- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a similar degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience in a related field. MSME is a plus.
- 6+ years of mechanical design engineering experience, including early-stage conceptual design, detailed design for low-to-mid volume manufacturing and assembly, knowledge of the state of the art of sensing paradigms for ergonomic and anthropometric evaluation.
- 3+ years of systems-level engineering experience with complex integrated electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Proficiency with general ME CAD tools: SolidWorks, NX, or Creo Parametric.
- Up to 20% of travel may be required between locations.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Background checks are required.
- Experience with FEA simulation and analysis methods for thermal analysis, tolerance analysis, test and measurement data analysis.
- Understanding of biosensing or equivalent analog electrical systems.
- Familiar with thermodynamics/heat-transfer and how that affects consumer product comfort.
- Experience within the Human Factors domain and biomechanics research.
- Experience with manufacturing techniques such as injection-molding, DMLS 3D Printing, CNC machining, and soft goods casting for materials such as silicones, plastics, metals, etc.
- Familiar with 3D human scan data to analyze and describe morphological variations.
- Ability to leverage and manage external teams (CM/Vendors) to maximize throughput and efficiency for complex component fabrication.
- Highly organized and ability to present data using visual tools (graphs, animations, google docs, etc.) in clear and informative ways to the immediate team.
- Capable of managing large-scale R&D projects from ideation to implementation.
- Documenting best practices, SOPs, and validating design intent.
- Proficiency in presenting engineering designs, proposals, and reports.
- Lead rapid-prototyping efforts that will deliver multiple iterations of concepts in a short period of time.
- Drive end-to-end discussions on system assembly design, prototyping, equipment & tooling needs for high precision ergonomic evaluation, and compliance requirements.
- Apply engineering knowhow in the areas of thermodynamics, precision mechanism design and motion control.
- Ability to execute multiple streams of work simultaneously and independently balance and prioritize project workload to ensure success against timeline constraints.
- Collaborate with HW Engineering, Human Factors, and R&D teams to identify and solve complex early-stage challenges related to ergonomics, employing mechanical and electro-mechanical design and fabrication skills.
- Design and build platforms and tools that can be leveraged across the hardware organization that build upon your expertise in ergonomic and anthropometric considerations for product realization.
- Own or contribute to the investigation and technology maturation of various ergonomic design approaches within AR/VR products.
- Effectively employ 3D computer aided design (CAD), 2D sketching, and advanced prototyping techniques to clearly communicate complex design ideas.
