Job Overview:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer (Cleanrooms & HVAC) will conduct field investigations and interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's mechanical aspects. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. Recommendations provided by the candidate will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's mechanical aspects are met. This position is designated as part-time telework and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.

Responsibilities:

The candidate will plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work in the mechanical discipline within a project or staff group. The candidate will perform work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.

The candidate will perform work using standard application programs. The candidate will plan, coordinate, or prepare equipment or work specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and award recommendations.

The candidate will coordinate engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups or disciplines, with the client, suppliers, and contractors. The candidate will assume a lead technical role over other engineers or project subgroups for completing specific tasks as directed.

The candidate will communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to supervisors and project management. The candidate will support functional initiatives of developing Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design guides, appropriate standard computer applications, and administrative practices.

The candidate will mentor designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development. The candidate will support the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

Education and Experience Requirements:

This position requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience, or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.

Requirements:

The candidate must have a degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college, with a minimum of 10 years of dry systems experience.

The candidate must possess in-depth knowledge of equipment packages such as Air Handling Systems, Air Condensing units, Variable Air Volume Units, and Cleanroom Recirculation Air and Exhaust Systems. The candidate should be able to identify specific industry and technology experience.

Job Description:

The candidate should have a good working knowledge of international standards for cleanrooms and associated controlled environments (ISO 14644 1 through 14), Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST-RP-CC001, 002, 006, 007, 012, 021, 034) for Cleanrooms, and XX Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), SMACNA, and International Mechanical Code (IMC) standards for HVAC and Air Handling Units.

The candidate must have knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, plant layout, materials, and computers for preparation of analyses and development of project deliverables within the discipline.

The candidate will demonstrate thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of the roles played by other departments on projects including construction practices and the economics involved.

The candidate must have knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines. The candidate must be able to troubleshoot issues in a field or job site setting confidently and provide instruction on how to resolve issues identified.

The candidate must demonstrate the ability to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
