Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mold Mechanic to lead mold maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting in a fast-paced plastic injection molding environment. This senior role is responsible for ensuring molds operate efficiently, minimizing downtime, and mentoring junior mold technicians.Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of plastic injection molds
- Disassemble, inspect, clean, and reassemble molds to meet production standards
- Diagnose and repair mold components, including slides, lifters, ejector systems, and hot runners
- Lead mold changeovers and support machine startups
- Mentor and train junior mold technicians and operators on mold maintenance best practices
- Maintain accurate records of mold repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve complex molding issues
- Recommend process or mold improvements to optimize part quality and efficiency
- 5+ years of experience as a Mold Mechanic in a plastic injection molding environment
- Strong knowledge of mold components, hot runner systems, and injection molding processes
- Skilled in disassembly, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of molds
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mold prints, and technical drawings
- Mechanical aptitude and advanced problem-solving skills
- Welding, polishing, or mold modification experience
- Experience in high-volume or precision molding industries (e.g., medical, automotive)
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Stand, bend, and work on molds for extended periods
