The base pay range for this position is

$27.30-$41.68 Hourly

however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Job Title: Program Coordinator- Sr. Nutrition Program

Work Schedule for this Position: Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

About the Team:

The Senior Nutrition team is a collaborative service team that includes the Program Coordinator- Sr. Nutrition Program, Cook- Sr. Nutrition Program, site staff, volunteers, and program leadership. The Coordinator provides planning, oversight, scheduling support, menu/program compliance coordination, and communication; the Cook leads meal preparation and on-site kitchen execution. Together, the team supports consistent, safe, and welcoming meal service for older adults throughout Whitman County.

Position Overview:

This position coordinates the Senior Nutrition Program across Whitman County and supports both congregate meal sites and home-delivered meal services. The Nutrition Services Coordinator partners closely with the Cook- Sr. Nutrition Program and site staff to plan menus, coordinate operations, support compliance, and ensure meals are delivered and served in a safe, timely, and participant-centered manner. This role provides program coordination, data/reporting, volunteer coordination, on-site support, and regular travel between meal sites and program locations while helping maintain contract and food service standards.

A Day in the Life:

  • Coordinate day-to-day Senior Nutrition Program operations for congregate meal sites and home-delivered meal services in partnership with program leadership.
  • Develop, distribute, and maintain approved menus, production guidance, and site communications in coordination with the Cook and supervisor.
  • Order food, supplies, and disposables for congregate meal sites; monitor inventory levels, vendor issues, and budget-conscious purchasing practices.
  • Support meal service consistency by coordinating with the Cook on menu execution, site coverage, meal counts, substitutions (as approved), and operational needs.
  • Supervise and support cook staff and assigned site personnel consistent with organization expectations, including training, coaching, and day-to-day direction as delegated.
  • Coordinate volunteers for congregate and home-delivered meal services, including recruitment support, scheduling, screening processes, records, and communication.
  • Screen applicants for home-delivered meal services and maintain participant records and program data in accordance with program requirements and timelines.
  • Collect, review, and submit required program data and reports accurately and timely to meet state, contract, and organizational requirements.
  • Conduct or coordinate participant nutrition screening/assessment processes as assigned and within program scope, standards, and contract expectations.
  • Monitor program compliance with menu standards, meal service requirements, sanitation practices, and documentation expectations; follow up on deficiencies and corrective actions.

About You!

This Job is For You if You Have:

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education in nutrition, food service, public health, human services, or related field preferred.
  • One year of experience in food service, senior nutrition, community services, care coordination, or a related role.
  • Valid Washington State Food Worker Card required if handling unpackaged food, food equipment/utensils, or food-contact surfaces as part of assigned duties (or obtain within the timeframe allowed by law/local health requirements, with employer-provided training as applicable).
  • Ability to manage time, coordinate multiple tasks/sites, and meet deadlines for reporting and program operations.
  • Experience with data entry, documentation, and reporting requirements.
  • Valid driver's license required. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and maintain an acceptable driving record consistent with organization requirements, as driving is an essential function of this position.

A Wow if You Have:

  • Experience in food service management, senior nutrition programs, or community-based nutrition services.
  • Experience supervising staff and/or coordinating volunteers.
  • Experience with contract/grant reporting requirements or participant data systems.
  • Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) or similar food safety leadership training, if relevant to assigned duties/site requirements.
