A well-respected legal firm is inviting applications for an accomplished and meticulous Lead Legal Assistant to join their team in the vibrant location of Westbury, NY. This role involves supporting legal professionals throughout every phase of personal injury cases, starting from initial consultation through to resolution or trial. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, healthcare providers, and opposing attorneys.
KEY DUTIES:
- Develop, analyze, and submit legal documents such as initial filings, discovery processes, subpoenas, legal motions, and settlement documents. - Oversee case files, ensuring documentation is precise and current. - Plan and coordinate depositions, medical assessments, and court appearances. - Acquire, assess, and condense medical records and billing information. - Engage with clients for updates on their cases and gather essential data. - Monitor critical case deadlines, ensuring all legal deadlines are met efficiently. - Construct comprehensive trial resources, including trial notebooks and evidentiary presentations. - Collaborate in negotiating and settling lien resolutions and case settlements.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Over 5 years of paralegal experience, specifically within a firm specializing in personal injury law. - Robust knowledge of personal injury legal processes, courtroom protocols, and legal jargon. - Competence with legal management software and Microsoft Office applications. - Superior organizational and time-management prowess, with the ability to multitask effectively. - Strong proficiency in both written and verbal communication. - Capable of working autonomously as well as within a collaborative team setting. - An accredited paralegal certificate or degree in a related field is advantageous.
