Senior Paralegal - Albuquerque, NM
Duration: 12 months, Onsite
Day-to-day Responsibilities:
- Work under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor.
- Perform moderately complex legal research and draft preliminary legal memoranda.
- Prepare and review a variety of technical legal documents, ensuring conformity with local court rules.
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation by organizing trial exhibits and witness notebooks.
- Coordinate with victim/witness specialists and notify relevant staff of issues.
- Verify legal citations and statutory references using online resources like Westlaw and Lexis/Nexis.
- Proofread, edit, and electronically file legal documents with the U.S. District Court.
- Manage discovery processing and production using tools like Adobe Acrobat and IPRO Eclipse.
- Maintain electronic case files and manage case-related data in the case management system.
- Perform docketing duties and respond to inquiries regarding pending and closed matters.
- Arrange travel and prepare related authorizations and vouchers.
- Utilize office software applications for document production, including Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat.
Required Skills:
- At least two years of litigation paralegal experience or relevant project experience.
- Minimum one year of experience in automated litigation support.
- Sound knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Familiarity with legal research tools like LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
- Ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure.
Education:
- Paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed, or equivalent legal training or experience.
