Senior Paralegal Litigation Support

Location: Knoxville, TN 100% Onsite Labor Category: Senior Paralegal SCA: Applies Paralegal/Legal Assistant II DOL Wage Determination

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Paralegal to provide litigation, investigation, legal research, eDiscovery, and trial support for a federal legal team in Knoxville, Tennessee.

This role requires a strong litigation background and the ability to work independently with limited supervision. The Senior Paralegal will assist attorneys throughout all phases of investigations and litigation, including legal research, document review, discovery, case preparation, healthcare and financial data analysis, and trial support.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with automated litigation support and eDiscovery platforms, strong knowledge of federal and state court procedures, and the ability to manage complex legal work under tight deadlines.

Education Requirements

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Paralegal certificate

  • Juris Doctor (JD)

  • Currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least one year of study completed

  • Equivalent level of legal training or experience

  • Equivalent level of education may be substituted where appropriate

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of litigation paralegal experience or directly relevant project experience

  • Minimum 1 year of automated litigation support experience

  • Working knowledge of federal and state court systems

  • Strong knowledge of legal research procedures and resources

  • Hands-on experience with eDiscovery/Client tools and procedures

  • Ability to perform moderately complex legal research

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to consistently produce accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Technical & Legal Skills

Candidates should have experience with:

  • Westlaw and LexisNexis

  • PACER

  • CLEAR and/or Accurint

  • Relativity, Everlaw, or similar eDiscovery/document review platforms

  • Client Excel, including:

    • SUM

    • IF statements

    • VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP

    • Pivot tables

  • Client Office/word processing applications

  • Document review and case/file management databases

  • Imaging, scanning, graphics, and litigation-support systems

  • Client processing and eDiscovery procedures

Key Responsibilities

Litigation & Investigation Support

  • Assist attorneys throughout all phases of pre-litigation investigations and litigation.

  • Independently collect, review, organize, and analyze incoming case materials.

  • Assist in preparing legal documents, including complaints, motions, orders, answers, pleadings, subpoenas, discovery requests, applications, and affidavits.

  • Review, annotate, and summarize transcripts, reports, files, healthcare records, and other evidence.

  • Identify potentially conflicting statements, evidentiary issues, and areas requiring additional investigation.

  • Assist attorneys with witness interviews and complex investigative research.

  • Communicate with law enforcement, government officials, witnesses, counsel, and other parties to locate information supporting investigations and litigation.

Legal Research & Writing

  • Conduct moderately complex legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, CLEAR, and Accurint.

  • Verify legal citations and statutory references for accuracy.

  • Prepare preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence.

  • Draft routine legal and administrative correspondence using established templates and guidelines.

  • Summarize transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use.

  • Develop tables of contents, tables of authorities, case citations, and other references for briefs.

Data & Financial Analysis

  • Analyze and summarize healthcare billing and treatment records for attorney review.

  • Work with large datasets in Client Excel to identify, organize, and summarize relevant information.

  • Assist with analysis of claims data and other complex datasets as part of investigations.

  • Support financial analyses and investigations involving individuals and organizations, including assessments related to their ability to satisfy judgments or settlements.

eDiscovery & Document Review

  • Perform document review and maintain case materials using Relativity, Everlaw, and similar Client/eDiscovery platforms.

  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files.

  • Assist with the collection, review, organization, and management of electronically stored information.

  • Utilize litigation-support technology to efficiently manage large volumes of case documentation.

Trial Preparation & Court Support

  • Provide litigation and trial preparation support, including independently compiling:

    • Case summary binders

    • Trial notebooks

    • Witness lists

    • Exhibit lists

    • Jury instructions

  • Prepare charts, graphics, visual materials, and enlarged exhibits for depositions, hearings, and courtroom presentations.

  • Utilize scanners, plotters, graphics software, and other automated litigation-support technology as needed.

  • Coordinate with victim/witness personnel to support compliance with applicable guidelines concerning victims' rights and services.

Case Management & Administrative Support

  • Open, update, maintain, and close cases using automated case-tracking systems.

  • Maintain attorney calendars and track:

    • Filing deadlines

    • Hearings

    • Conferences

    • Court appearances

    • Other case-related deadlines

  • Establish and maintain organized physical and digital case files.

  • Search reference files and prepare records for disposition or transfer to records repositories.

  • Provide additional legal, clerical, and administrative support to attorneys and legal staff as needed.

Ideal Candidate

The strongest candidate will have a combination of litigation paralegal experience, eDiscovery/document review expertise, legal research skills, and strong Excel capabilities. Experience supporting complex federal investigations, healthcare-related matters, financial investigations, or large-scale litigation would be particularly valuable.
