Job Description Summary

As aSeniorParalegal at Gooseheadheadquarters,you willserve as asenior-level legal specialistwithintheCompany’s legal department, with primary responsibility for supporting andadvancing therisk, claims, and regulatory(RCR) function.You will play a critical role in managing complex workflows, driving process consistency, and serving as a subject matter resourceforRCRrelated legal matters

This role requiresahighlyproactive individualwhooperateswith a high degree of independence, exercises sound judgment in ambiguous situations, and takes ownership of both processes and outcomes within the RCRpractice area.In addition to individual contributions, this role is expected to provide guidance and informal leadership to junior team members within the specialty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead RCR Process Execution and Ownership

  • Own and manage core RCR workflows, includingprofessional liabilityclaims-related matters, regulatory inquiries, and risk mitigation processes. 

  • Independently handle higher-complexity matters, including sensitive regulatory responses (e.g., DOI inquiries), escalated claims issues, and cross-functional risk matters. 

  • Ensuretimely,accurate, and consistent execution of all RCR processes. 

  • Subject Matter Expertise

  • Serve as a primary point of contact within the legal department for RCR-related questions, issues, and escalations. 

  • Interpret and apply regulatory requirements and internal policies to real-world scenarios. 

  • Identifytrends, risks, and gaps within RCR workflows and escalate appropriately. 

  • Process Development and Optimization

  • Evaluate existing RCR processes and implement improvements to increase efficiency, scalability, and risk mitigation. 

  • Partner with attorneysand Legal Operationsto refine procedures and ensure alignment with legal and businessobjectives

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of playbooks, SOPs, and training materials. 

  • Matter and Workflow Oversight

  • Oversee intake, triage, and tracking of RCR matters withinLMMand other systems, ensuring data integrity and proper categorization. 

  • Coordinate across stakeholders (internal business teams, external partners, regulators) to drive matters to resolution. 

  • Anticipate bottlenecks and proactively manage timelines and deliverables. 

  • Support Complex Investigations and Responses

  • Lead fact-gathering efforts for regulatory inquiries,claimsdisputes, and internal investigations. 

  • Draft and/or coordinate responses to administrative agencies (e.g., DOI), subpoenas, and other formal requests, with attorney oversight as needed. 

  • Synthesize information into clear, actionable summaries for legal review. 

  • Mentorship and Team Support

  • Provideday-to-day guidance, training, and quality control support to junior paralegals within the RCR function. 

  • Act as a resource for process-related questions and help reinforce team standards and best practices. 

  • Assistin onboarding and training new team members within the specialty. 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g., Claims, Compliance, Operations) to address risk-related issues and improve workflows. 

  • Translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical guidance for business teams.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degreeorParalegalCertificate preferred.

  • Minimum of 3+ years of collective experience in RCR, or a closely related practice area.

  • At least1-2yearsofexperience in acorporate or in-house legal environment is.

  • Prior experiencein a leadership role, ordemonstratedexperience guiding, mentoring,or overseeing the work of junior team members.

  • Strong working knowledgeoflegal terminology, practices,andprofessional standards.

  • Highlyresponsiveand self-driven,with the ability tooperateeffectively in a fast-paced, dynamic legal environment with minimal oversight.

  • Advancedcritical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability tomanage ambiguity, assess risk,andexercisesound judgmentin complex situations.

  • Strong written andverbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectivelyacross departmentsandcommunicate clearly with both legal and business stakeholders.

  • Proven abilityto managemultiple assignments andcompeting prioritiesindependently,whilemaintainingtimelyandaccurateexecution.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, includingdevelopingjunior team members, providing guidanceon workflows, and reinforcing process consistency and quality standards.

  • Ability toevaluateand improveprocesses,contributing to documentation, standardization, and operational efficiency across recurring workflows.

  • Proficient inMicrosoft Office Suite and Adobe,with theability to conduct research andquickly learninternalLMM and CLM tools; experience withSalesforce or Ironcladis a plus.
