We are currently looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our tight knit Payroll team. This position will be based in our Westport, CT office. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience in hands on payroll processing.

About the Role

As aSenior Payroll Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuringaccurate, compliant, andtimelypayroll operations for our U.S. employees. You will manageend-to-endpayroll processing, reconcile payroll accounts, troubleshoot system issues, and serve as a key partner to internal teams and employees. Yourexpertisewill help enhance our payroll systems and processes, contributing directly to operational efficiency and employee satisfaction.This role is ideal for someone who takes ownership, thrives in a collaborative environment, and brings both precision and initiative to their work.

Demonstrates the highest standards of confidentiality, discretion, and sound judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information, including personally identifiable information (e.g., Social Security numbers), compensation, personnel actions, termination terms, organizational changes, and business plans. Ensures all communications and documentation are managed on a strictneedtoknowbasis and in compliance with company policies and ethicalstandards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Process regular andoff cycleU.S. payroll, including collecting inputs, performing calculations, and ensuringtimely,accuratepayments.

    • Ensure all payroll transactionscomply withinternal policies, federal and state regulations, and tax requirements, includingtimelytax payments and filings.

    • Serve as a backup to team members and supportknowledge sharingacross the payroll function.

    • Maintain and enhance process documentation; recommend improvements to boost accuracy, efficiency, and system optimization.

    • Provide outstanding customer service by responding promptly and professionally to employee and stakeholder inquiries.

    • Partner withcross-functionalteams to supportpayroll-relatedinitiatives, reporting, and projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Management, or equivalent payroll-related education/training

  • 5–7+ years ofhands-onpayroll processing experience

  • Strong understanding ofmultijurisdictionalpayroll tax laws and regulations

  • Working knowledge of accounting principles related to payroll

  • Demonstrated ability to audit and reconcile payroll data for accuracy and compliance

  • Advancedproficiencyin Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience withWorkday Payroll

  • FPC certification (Fundamental Payroll Certification)

The salary range for this full-time role is $78,200.00-$104,266.68 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
