Colonial Pipeline is the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, transporting more than 100 million gallons or 2.5 million barrels per day. Colonial transports various grades of gasoline, diesel fuel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and fuels for the U.S. military through a pipeline system. Colonial transports approximately 45 percent of all fuel consumed on the East Coast, providing refined products to more than 50 million Americans.

About the Senior Physical Security Operations Lead Position

Colonial is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Physical Security Operations Lead to drive the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of our enterprise physical security program. In this critical role, you will protect our people, facilities, and infrastructure by overseeing all physical security systems, vendor relationships, guard services, and operational risk reduction strategies.

What You Get to Do:

Lead the Physical Security Program:

  • Own and optimize Colonial's enterprise-wide physical security strategy, standards, and program performance.
  • Ensure the reliability and lifecycle management of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and badging systems.
  • Establish and maintain governance practices aligned with risk tolerance and regulatory expectations.
  • Monitor the health, effectiveness, and modernization needs of security assets.
  • Provide actionable insights, reporting, and recommendations to leadership.

Oversee Vendors & Operations:

  • Lead operational oversight of guard services, security contractors, and technology vendors.
  • Align budget, procurement activities, and invoices with approved scope and performance expectations.
  • Manage vendor performance, issue resolution, and long-term relationship needs.

Drive Risk & Vulnerability Assessments:

  • Conduct security risk evaluations and recommend mitigation strategies across widespread and critical assets.
  • Integrate security considerations into facility design, construction, and capital projects.
  • Foster key relationships with internal partners, regulators, and law enforcement.

Support Emergency Response:

  • Serve as Security/Intelligence Officer within the Incident Command System during emergencies.
  • Lead or support drills, exercises, and after-action reviews.
  • Incorporate lessons learned into future program improvements.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor's degree in Security, Criminal Justice, Engineering, Business, or related field of study from accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education such as 7+ years of physical security, first responder, or incident response experience in place of a degree.
  • Ideally, 7+ years of progressive physical security or related experience, including hands-on exposure to security systems, vendor management, and emergency response.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, including field work and crisis‑related assignments.
  • Strong understanding of physical security principles, risk management, and critical infrastructure protection.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise-level access control, surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Proven ability to lead programs, influence stakeholders, and manage vendors.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Commitment to consistently adhere to policies and procedures and be a positive example for others by demonstrating the Company's core values of Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Safety, and Excellence in completing work assignments.

Skills That Set You Apart:

  • Advanced degree or additional coursework in security, risk, or emergency management.
  • Experience in energy, transportation, or regulated critical infrastructure industries.
  • Familiarity with TSA Pipeline Security Guidelines, MTSA, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience integrating security requirements into construction/design projects.
  • Experience with ICS or emergency management environments.
  • Background in scaling or modernizing enterprise security technologies.
