We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Safety / Risk Advisor to support a high activity operating environment as the facility transitions from commissioning into start up. This role requires strong technical expertise in scenario management, bowtie analysis, HAZOP facilitation, and formal risk assessment leadership.

This position does not involve OSHA PSM program development. We are looking for a hands on technical expert who can immediately contribute to scenario based risk work in the field.

Responsibilities

Lead and facilitate scenario based risk assessments, including:
HAZOP
Bowtie analysis
What If / Checklist reviews
Event tree analysis
Conduct process safety studies in alignment with internal standards and industry best practices.
Provide expert guidance on hazard identification, barrier effectiveness, and risk reduction strategies.
Support the use of consequence modeling tools (e.g., PHAST) for scenario evaluations.
Deliver process safety coaching and training for operations, engineering, and maintenance teams.
Perform field engagements to observe operations and identify improvement opportunities.
Support incident investigations focused on learning and barrier improvement.
Collaborate with operations, engineering, and leadership teams to embed scenario based thinking in daily decisions.
Participate in audits, assurance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in process safety, risk assessment, or operations (petrochemical, refining, LNG, or related industries).
Demonstrated experience leading or facilitating risk assessments (not assisting or participating).
Strong technical knowledge of scenario management and bowtie methodology.
Experience with consequence modeling tools (PHAST, ALOHA, etc.) preferred.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex risk information clearly.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Process, or Process Safety Engineering preferred (experience may substitute).
Ability to work independently and “hit the ground running” in a fast moving operational environment.
