Job Description

Senior Product Marketing Manager, AI Solutions – Higher Education & Research

Description -

As Senior Product Marketing Manager, AI Solutions – Higher Education & Research, you will lead the positioning, go‑to‑market strategy, and sales enablement for HP’s AI solutions serving universities, research institutions, and academic labs. This role owns how HP enables AI training and inference for research, instruction, and workforce development—where access to compute, funding efficiency, and academic credibility are critical.

You will act as the Higher‑Ed and Research vertical authority for HP AI Solutions, shaping solution narratives that resonate with faculty, researchers, IT leaders, and academic decision‑makers. This includes positioning AI infrastructure for local, on‑prem, and lab‑based environments where cost control, data ownership, grant alignment, and ease of use are essential.

This senior role requires strong technical fluency, deep understanding of the higher‑ed and research ecosystem, and the ability to lead cross‑functional teams to deliver solutions aligned to research outcomes, funding cycles, and institutional priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Higher‑Ed & Research Positioning & Messaging

  • Own end‑to‑end positioning and messaging for HP’s AI training and inference solutions tailored to higher education and research institutions.
  • Translate AI infrastructure capabilities (GPUs, workstations, local and edge compute, AI software stacks) into value propositions that support research productivity, instructional outcomes, and student access to compute.
  • Develop vertical‑specific narratives addressing budget constraints, shared resources, data ownership, and transparency.

Go‑to‑Market Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead GTM strategy for AI solutions targeting universities, research labs, and academic consortia from concept through launch and scale.
  • Define priority segments and personas (e.g., faculty researchers, lab directors, academic IT, administrators) and align solution plays accordingly.
  • Influence product packaging, offers, and roadmap priorities by representing higher‑ed and research customer needs in cross‑functional forums.

Sales, Partner & Ecosystem Enablement

  • Own sales enablement strategy for higher‑ed and research AI solutions, delivering solution playbooks, reference architectures, funding‑aligned talk tracks, and competitive guidance.
  • Enable sales teams to position HP AI solutions against cloud‑first alternatives by articulating the value of local compute, predictable costs, and institutional control.
  • Partner with academic alliances, system integrators, and ISVs to ensure consistent, education‑ready solution messaging and co‑sell alignment.

Customer, Market & Competitive Intelligence

  • Lead voice‑of‑customer efforts across universities and research institutions to inform messaging, GTM, and solution strategy.
  • Monitor competitive offerings, funding programs, and academic AI trends to maintain differentiated and credible positioning.
  • Synthesize insights into actionable recommendations for product, marketing, and sales leadership.

Launch Readiness & Cross‑Functional Execution

  • Own launch readiness for higher‑ed and research AI solutions, ensuring messaging alignment, enablement readiness, and stakeholder buy‑in.
  • Serve as the senior marketing interface with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Partnerships for higher‑ed‑focused launches.
  • Maintain a single source of truth for higher‑ed GTM assets, performance metrics, and post‑launch learnings.

Qualifications

Required

  • 8+ years of experience in product marketing, solutions marketing, or GTM roles, with experience serving higher education, research, or SLED markets.
  • Proven track record positioning complex B2B technology solutions for academic or research‑driven customers.
  • Strong technical fluency across AI infrastructure, GPUs, workstations, and hybrid on‑prem compute environments.
  • Ability to translate technical differentiation into outcome‑driven narratives for faculty, researchers, and institutional buyers.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills for technical, academic, and executive audiences.

Preferred

  • Experience marketing AI training, inference, or data science platforms in academic or research environments.
  • Familiarity with higher‑ed funding models, grants, or lab‑based procurement.
  • Experience working with channel partners, system integrators, or academic alliances.
  • Background collaborating with product, engineering, and ecosystem partners on solution‑led launches.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Advanced degree or academic research background a plus.
