Job Description
Position: Senior Product Owner – Banking OperationsLocation: Hybrid in Minneapolis, MNEmployment Type: Full-TimeRole Overview The Product Owner will lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of technology and process enhancements supporting core banking operations, including transaction processing, reconciliations, servicing workflows, risk controls, and operational efficiency initiatives. This role is ideal for an experienced product leader with 7+ years of product ownership or business operations experience within banking, financial services, or payments. You will partner closely with operations leaders, technology teams, compliance, and enterprise stakeholders to deliver solutions that strengthen operational performance, reduce risk, and improve customer and employee experiences.Key Responsibilities
- Operational Product Strategy — Define product vision and roadmap aligned to banking operations priorities, regulatory needs, and efficiency goals.
- Backlog Ownership — Maintain and prioritize the product backlog to ensure delivery of high value operational capabilities.
- Agile Leadership — Lead sprint planning, grooming, reviews, and retrospectives with cross functional teams.
- Requirements & User Stories — Translate operational needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements.
- Operational Workflow Expertise — Support initiatives across transaction processing, servicing, reconciliations, exceptions management, and risk controls.
- Stakeholder Partnership — Serve as the primary liaison between operations, technology, compliance, and risk teams.
- Data Driven Prioritization — Use KPIs, operational metrics, and customer insights to guide prioritization and continuous improvement.
- Regulatory & Risk Alignment — Ensure product solutions meet regulatory, audit, and risk management standards.
- Delivery Oversight — Drive end to end delivery of product increments, remove impediments, and ensure readiness for deployment.
- Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of product ownership experience within banking business operations or process improvement.
- Strong understanding of banking operations, including one or more of: Deposit operations, Payments a& money movement, Loan servicing, Reconciliations & exceptions management, Risk, fraud, or compliance operations.
- Proven ability to lead Agile teams and deliver complex operational products.
- Demonstrated ability to translate operational needs into actionable product requirements.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder influencing skills.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with operational transformation, workflow automation, or digital process modernization.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks impacting banking operations.
- Certifications such as CSPO, PSPO, Lean Six Sigma, or similar.
- Experience with API driven platforms, data integrations, or enterprise banking systems.
- Success Indicators
- Delivery of operational enhancements that reduce risk, improve efficiency, and strengthen customer outcomes.
- Clear, actionable product roadmaps aligned with operational priorities.
- Strong relationships with operations, technology, and compliance partners.
- Measurable improvements in processing accuracy, cycle times, and operational KPIs
