HDR is looking for an experienced practitioner in fisheries engineering, restoration, and ecohydraulics to be a part of our thriving team in the Pacific Northwest practice area. This is an opportunity to join an established, highly successful team already solving the most challenging fisheries related engineering work throughout the West Coast. The candidate will be responsible for providing technical expertise at the project level and assisting with growing HDRs fisheries program through development of client relationships and identification of opportunities for expansion of HDR s suite of environmental and water resource related services. Responsibilities will include technical work, mentoring, team building, project management, business development, and client management. The candidate will also be responsible for establishing technical and project management strategies that emphasize quality, staff development, client satisfaction, and financial responsibility utilizing HDRs technology, standards, and project delivery practices. The primary duties of this position include planning, directing, and monitoring all aspects of large multi-discipline projects or medium sized projects with high degree of technical complexity. The candidate will be involved with the production and coordination of several projects concurrently. This position offers additional opportunities for travel and working within other regions of practice across the United States and Canada.

In the role of Senior Project Manager - Fisheries, we'll count on you to:

  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development & initiation to close-out)
  • Responsible for all aspects of large multidiscipline projects or medium-sized projects with high degree of technical complexity, involving a large project staff
  • Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently
  • Establish and maintain client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through entire project life cycle, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule
  • Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews
  • Implement QA/QC procedures
  • Supervise large project staffs and act as mentor for less-experienced Project Managers
  • Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing projects and tasks.
  • Experience performing planning, design development, contract documentation, preparation of plans and specifications construction engineering oversight on a wide variety of water resource projects.
  • Experience leading, directing, and mentoring technical staff. Experience interfacing with a broad range of science and engineering disciplines.
  • Experience conducting or managing 1D/2D/3D hydraulic modeling to support planning and design of a wide range of projects including stream rehabilitation and restoration, fish passage, fish behavior, screened surface water intakes, complex culverts and bridges, and floodplain management (planning and design).
  • Experience leading and participating in the preparation of technical and non-technical reports and presentations including visualization of data.
  • Experience with business development activities including client relations, marketing pursuits, and project proposals

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 10 years related experience

  • A minimum 5 years project management experience

  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

  • MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience would be plus)

  • Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills

  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
