Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

Lease Crutcher Lewis is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex healthcare, hospital, and life science construction projects in the Portland market. This is a high-impact operations leadership role for someone who understands the precision, coordination, and client partnership required to deliver technically complex environments such as acute care facilities, medical campuses, laboratories, research spaces, and other mission-critical healthcare or life science projects.

In this role, you will have full responsibility for one large, multi-year, multi-million-dollar project or several small to mid-sized projects, guiding work from early sales and preconstruction through construction execution, closeout, and warranty.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background managing healthcare, hospital, laboratory, or life science projects and is comfortable working with owners, design partners, trade partners, and project teams in highly regulated, occupied, or technically demanding environments.

You will also help lead, develop, and mentor project teams, promote professional growth, and represent Lewis through strong client relationships, operational excellence, and a commitment to safety, quality, and company values.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • You build trust quickly with healthcare and life science clients by understanding their operational priorities, technical requirements, and sensitivity to active patient care, research, or mission-critical environments.
  • You lead projects with clarity, discipline, and ownership, keeping teams aligned around safety, quality, schedule, budget, risk management, and client expectations.
  • You anticipate challenges early, communicate proactively, and help teams solve complex issues before they impact project outcomes.
  • You develop strong project teams by setting clear expectations, coaching team members, and creating an environment where people can do their best work.
  • You strengthen Lewis' reputation in the healthcare and life science market through excellent project delivery, professional relationships, and a consistent commitment to doing the right thing.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Marketing and Business Development

  • Act as a leader in assigned marketing and business development activities. Develop and maintain close working relationships with clients.
  • Lead pursuit strategy for healthcare, hospital, and life science opportunities, including proposal content, interview preparation, and client engagement.

Project Management

  • Provide leadership and oversight for complex healthcare, hospital, laboratory, life science, or similar technical commercial construction projects.
  • Lead the bid/budget process that includes reviewing the bid documents, owner contracts, bid personnel assignments, and supervising bid day activities.
  • Provide direction for estimating and preconstruction, including coordination of purchasing, operations, phasing, logistics, and constructability planning for assigned projects.
  • Follow projects from preconstruction through close-out and warranty periods.
  • Monitor cost reports, labor resources, schedules, safety programs, quality expectations, and project risks.
  • Coordinate peer reviews and project performance audits on assigned projects.
  • Deliver successful project outcomes, including financial performance, schedule commitments, quality standards, safety expectations, and strong relationships with owners, architects, engineers, trade partners, and project stakeholders.
  • Review, approve and execute owner change orders, and when necessary, review and approve subcontract and supply agreement drafts.
  • Supervise production and maintenance of construction schedules in addition to the compilation of the monthly profit projections.

Leadership and Communication

  • Develop, mentor, and support project team members in their career growth and personal fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with operational leadership on team assignments and workforce forecasting.
  • Resolve labor relations problems on assigned projects.
  • Accept and maintain other internal management duties, responsibilities, and special assignments in a leadership role for the company.
  • Adhere to and promote Company values.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 10-15 years of construction industry experience preferred, with demonstrated experience leading healthcare, hospital, laboratory, life science, or similarly complex technical projects.

  • Strong knowledge of project delivery from preconstruction through closeout, including estimating, scheduling, cost management, contracts, change management, risk management, and client communication.
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency, including Microsoft Office products and construction/project management technology.

KEY ATTRIBUTES

  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail, organization, time management, and follow-through.
  • Solves challenging and complex problems with a practical, team-oriented approach.
  • Adapts well to shifting priorities, demands, timelines, and ambiguous conditions.
  • Delegates effectively, develops others, and creates an environment where project teams can perform at their best.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety, quality, and doing the right thing.
  • Understands industry trends and their impact on clients, projects, and business opportunities.
