Senior Radiation Control Technician 4 – Nuclear Facilities (DOE/LANL)
Location: Los Alamos, NM | 100% Onsite
Compensation: $45–$51/hr + shift differential eligibility
Schedule: Full-time | 24/7 rotating shifts including nights and weekends
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required
Clearance: Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
WHY THIS ROLE
The Senior RCT 4 is a senior-level radiation protection specialist supporting some of the most sensitive and technically complex nuclear operations in the country. At this level, you'll be expected to operate independently, provide technical guidance to other technicians, and serve as a subject matter resource for health physicists and facility management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide senior-level radiological support across high-hazard DOE nuclear facilities
- Develop, review, and approve radiation work permits and radiological control procedures
- Serve as technical lead during complex radiological operations including hot cell, glove box, and contaminated area work
- Train and mentor RCT 3 and junior technicians
- Interface directly with health physicists, facility managers, and operations personnel on radiological planning
- Support emergency response operations as senior RCT on shift
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
- 8+ years of progressive RCT experience in a DOE or nuclear facility
- Expert-level knowledge of 10CFR835 and DOE radiation protection standards
- Demonstrated ability to develop and approve RWPs independently
- Experience leading or mentoring other technicians in the field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- NRRPT certification strongly preferred
- DOE Core Training Card
- Experience at a DOE national laboratory or NNSA facility
- Hot cell, glove box, or plutonium facility experience
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS - READ BEFORE APPLYING
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
- Must have 8+ years of RCT experience in a DOE or nuclear regulated environment
- Must be able to work 100% onsite including 24/7 rotating shifts
