Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) is a multi-site mission-driven non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to residents throughout the Merrimack Valley. Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics), GLFHC has clinical sites throughout the service area and is the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program.
GLFHC is currently seeking a Senior Referral Specialist. The Senior Referrals Specialist performs all functions necessary to ensure patients have been cleared for specialty service visits. Senior Referral Specialist will ensure the effective management of all medical referrals and perform a variety of tasks including, processing, prior authorizations, scheduling and tracking of medical referrals for clinic patients to be compliant with Patient Center Medical Home requirements to ensure patient safety. As an integral member of the health care team, collaborates with other clinic Referral Specialist, Clinicians and other support staff.
- Prepares and processes all referral and pre-authorization paperwork.
- Contacts various clinics, facilities, companies to obtain information to accurately complete referral and pre-authorization requests.
- Utilizes third party payer and insurance portals; has a detailed knowledge of insurance providers, their portals and their expectations for authorization approval
- Calls patient within 48 hours of initial referral to provide updates
Qualifications:
- Bilingual, Spanish and English.
- HS Diploma or GED Certificate required
- Medical or Administrative training.
- One to three years of experience working in hospital or other clinical environment.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
