We collaborate and innovate - pushing one another to transform not just Pacific Life, but the entire industry for the better. Why? Because it's the right thing to do. Pacific Life is more than a job, it's a career with purpose. It's a career where you have the support, balance, and resources to make a positive impact on the future - including your own.

We're actively seeking an experienced Senior Risk Analyst Business Resilience to join our Operational Risk & Resilience team in Newport Beach, CA.

As a Senior Risk Analyst Business Resilience/Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery, you will play a key role in advancing and sustaining enterprise business resilience capabilities that enable the organization to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disruption. This 2nd Line of Defense governance and oversight role requires in-depth experience, independent judgment, and the ability to solve complex problems by applying established best practices and adapting existing solutions to new business challenges.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across the organization, working with minimal supervision while managing complex deliverables end-to-end. This role sits within a team of approximately 35 professionals in the Operational Risk & Resilience department, a subset of Enterprise Risk Management. Your colleagues will include Service Owners, Service Managers, Service Leads, and other Capability Leads across GRC, Operations, and Engineering teams, supported by OR&R Service Leads who function as liaisons to the 1st line of defense.

How you will make an impact:

  • Lead and mature Business Resilience capabilities, including governance and oversight of Policy, Standards, controls, and procedures
  • Provide governance and oversight of Business Impact Analyses (BIA), Business Continuity Plans (BCP), and identifying gaps and driving improvements aligned to enterprise standards
  • Partner with 1st Line of Defense technology, operations, and other functional teams to ensure continuity and recovery strategies are practical and aligned to business priorities
  • Provide oversight of resilience exercises (e.g., tabletop and DR exercises), ensure remediation activities are tracked and completed, and ensure lessons learned are integrated into updated plans and practices
  • Develop and report Key Risk Indicators (KRI) to monitor operation within risk appetite, and engage in ongoing capability maturity initiatives
  • Serve as an advisor to business leaders, helping them assess resilience risks, preparedness gaps, and trade-offs
  • Provide oversight of enterprise systems that support the management and maintenance of company-wide business resilience records.

The experience you will bring:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in business resilience, business continuity, or operational resilience
  • 4-year degree or equivalent practical experience
  • In-depth knowledge of resilience best practices, with conceptual and practical expertise in business resilience and foundational knowledge of related disciplines (e.g., risk management, technology recovery, third-party risk)
  • Ability to work independently, exercising sound judgment with minimal guidance
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written communication skills

What will make you stand out:

  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems by adapting existing solutions and taking a fresh perspective
  • Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority
  • Ability to identify, recommend, and implement process and capability improvements
  • Comfort operating in a role that balances strategy, execution, and advisory responsibilities
  • Experience designing metrics and authoring, producing, and presenting management reporting to drive informed decision-making
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools, including Visio, for documentation and process visualization
