About the Role

The Persona Security Team is looking for a Product Security engineer to help shape how our products protect highly sensitive identity data as the platform grows and evolves. As a platform built from and built for individual identities, security is not a layer we add later – it is core to our identity and embedded in everything we build.

In this role, you will partner closely with product and engineering teams to design secure product experiences, assess risk across new features, and ensure security scales alongside rapid product development. You will think proactively about threats, influence product decisions, and help build protections that keep Persona trusted by businesses and their users.

This position is based at our headquarters in San Francisco. We offer relocation assistance for candidates located outside the San Francisco Bay Area.

What you'll do at Persona

• Own and evolve Persona’s product security foundations to protect highly sensitive identity and PII data at scale

• Drive security strategy and risk decisions in partnership with product and engineering leaders, enabling rapid product development without compromising trust

• Architect and scale security controls, tooling, and monitoring that are embedded across Persona’s products and core development workflows

What you'll bring to Persona

• Experience. 4+ years of software engineering, 2+ years of product security at a fast-moving technology company.

• Experience securing a large Ruby on Rails application.

• Communication and Collaboration skills. Ability to explain security topics clearly to non-technical business representatives. Drive to enable other engineers to ship securely.

• Bias toward shipping. Improving our product quickly and continually is one of Persona’s greatest strengths. You should be excited about finding ways to integrate security into our product delivery processes without slowing things down.

• Proactive approach to solving problems. We’re looking for someone that can tell us how to solve our problems, not someone who waits to be told how to solve problems.

• Passion for security. You should be excited about keeping your skills and knowledge sharp, and sharing that with your peers and the rest of the company.
