Senior Software Engineer - Core Product

THE ROLE

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Core Product team at Baseten, you'll be building and maintaining the core Baseten product, enabling users to deploy and get value from ML models as easily as possible. As a developer-oriented product, we have a massive surface area, including all of our CLI tools, REST APIs, and the web application. The Core Product team is at the forefront of all new product development at the company.

EXAMPLE INITIATIVES

You'll get to work on these types of projects as part of our Core Product team:

• Chains for multi-component workflows

• Asynchronous inference

• Model APIs for frontier models

• Model training built for production inference

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Own and lead projects and areas of the product

• Mentor and develop junior engineers

• Design ergonomic APIs and abstractions to solve customer problems. Enable more junior engineers to do the same

• Fix bugs and resolve customer issues with urgency

• Drive long-term improvements to improve reliability of systems and velocity of development

• Work closely with the product and forward deployed engineering teams to develop and drive new product ideas

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field

• 5+ years experience building software applications

• Deep knowledge of the web stack and databases

• Good taste in product, particularly developer-oriented tools

• Interest in ML/AI infrastructure and willingness to learn

• Strong collaboration and communication skills
