Job Description
Our client is an established SaaS company serving banks, credit unions, and fintechs. Their cloud-based platform helps financial institutions improve collections performance, deliver a better consumer experience, reduce operating costs, anticipate delinquencies, and make more informed credit decisions.
We are assisting our client in hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join their growing product development team.
This is a hybrid position based in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Candidates should be local to the Greater Philadelphia region and able to work onsite two days per week.
The Opportunity
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing applications within a modern SaaS environment. The role is primarily focused on building new functionality and integrations on the company's current platform rather than maintaining legacy systems.
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on software engineer with strong C#/.NET and SQL Server skills who can do more than simply execute against technical requirements. The strongest candidates will understand the business problem behind what they are building, ask good questions, think through different approaches, and clearly communicate the reasoning behind their technical decisions.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable software applications using C# and .NET.
- Develop and optimize SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and other database components.
- Build and support REST APIs and integrations with external systems.
- Develop and maintain batch processes, file-based integrations, and SFTP-based data exchanges.
- Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
- Work closely with Product, Business Analysts, QA, and other engineering team members to translate business needs into effective technical solutions.
- Break down complex technical and data problems into manageable components and recommend practical solutions.
- Troubleshoot application, integration, and database issues and identify root causes.
- Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and development best practices.
- Use modern development tools, including AI-assisted development tools, while maintaining responsibility for reviewing, validating, and understanding the code being produced.
What We're Looking For
- (5+ years) Professional software development experience using C# and .NET.
- (4+ years) Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including the ability to work with complex queries and data-intensive applications.
- Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and building system integrations.
- Experience with batch processing, file integrations, and/or SFTP.
- (7+ years) Experience working in a modern software development environment and throughout the full SDLC.
- Ability to understand both the technical and functional sides of a problem rather than simply coding to a specification.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to clearly explain technical decisions, tradeoffs, and approaches.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with React or another modern JavaScript front-end framework. The company's current front-end environment.
- Experience working with cloud-based applications and Azure.
- Experience developing SaaS products.
- Experience within financial services, banking, fintech, or another highly regulated industry.
