Job Description:

The Senior Staff Accountant will report to Tennessee Oncology's Controller. The position will be based in Nashville, TN and is responsible for multiple accounting functions. The candidate will have a proven record of leadership, technical expertise, and proven results. This position is filling a key role with the company and accounting function, with primary focus on the execution of departmental goals and objectives. This role is a highly visible role and will regularly interact with members of the executive management team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Execute departmental goals and objectives, including day to day assignments, strategic initiatives, and process improvement
  • Participate in month-end close process including review and analysis of underlying financials
  • Review monthly financial for completeness and accuracy
  • Preparing and reviewing ad-hoc internal and external financial reporting and analysis
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities for team members
  • Coordinate timely preparation and review of month-end balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Aid in the capital budgeting and expenditure planning process
  • Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual result with plans and forecasts
  • Aid in the completion of the partnership tax return and partner K1 preparation
  • Collaborate with outside audit, working closely with independent accounting firm and providing all requested deliverables
  • Research complex accounting issues, document via accounting position papers, and develop policies and procedures to implement
  • Identify areas of process improvement, recommend changes, and execute improvements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Proactive & driven leader
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge (business combinations, revenue recognition, etc.)
  • Ability to manipulate data to drive and expedite project analyses and completion
  • Display a detail-oriented approach to daily activities and a self-starter attitude
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment and lead cross-functional initiatives
  • Ability to effectively collaborate, works with a sense of urgency, and prioritizes tasks
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience w/ Big4 background (Preferred)
  • Proven knowledge of GAAP, FASB, and SEC regulations
  • Knowledge of internal controls, best practices, and the ability to research and document accounting and financial topics required
  • Strong excel skills
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance (Preferred)
  • Active CPA license required (Preferred)
