Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Sustaining Engineer, Battery Design & Architecture to provide design-focused support and technical issue resolution for advanced battery products entering or already in production.

This position will take a lead role in investigating and improving battery products, working cross-functionally to perform failure analysis, identify design improvements, implement design updates, test to requirements, and release changes to manufacturing. Design changes will follow established engineering change order (ECO) and change management processes, including CRB/CCB.

Responsibilities

Serve as a design engineering representative for battery products in production.
Lead investigations to identify and implement engineering solutions to design and production issues.
Use CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) to create and modify 3D and 2D design data.
Develop technical project plans and schedules for engineering activities.
Create and support technical documentation, including non-conformance reports (NCRs), supplier deviation requests (SDRs), and engineering change requests (ECRs).
Write, submit, and coordinate approvals for engineering change orders (ECOs) and support implementation of design changes in production.
Manage BOM generation and revisions for a high-mix product line.
Participate in material review board (MRB) activities and provide engineering guidance on material disposition.
Partner with quality and manufacturing teams on first-article inspections, line trials, and production pilot builds.
Provide DFA/DFM feedback and support the development of design specifications, FMEAs, DOEs, and verification and validation protocols.
Work directly with component suppliers to troubleshoot technical issues, request samples, and evaluate the cost and timing impact of design changes.
