This role requires deep, hands-on experience in farm, land, and agricultural taxation. The ideal candidate brings advanced knowledge of partnership and multi-entity structuring, agricultural depreciation strategies, land transactions, and long-term tax planning for closely held operations.

This is not a general tax preparation role. We are seeking a seasoned professional who understands the unique nuances of agricultural operations and can proactively identify planning opportunities while ensuring precise compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns for agricultural entities, partnerships, trusts, and related individuals.

  • Oversee tax strategy for multi-entity farm structures, including LLCs, partnerships, and S-Corporations.

  • Manage agricultural depreciation planning (Section 179, bonus depreciation, equipment lifecycle planning).

  • Advise on land acquisitions, dispositions, exchanges, and property tax matters.

  • Support long-term planning related to generational transfer considerations and entity optimization.

  • Research and interpret changes in federal and state tax law impacting agricultural operations.

  • Coordinate with external CPA firms, legal counsel, and financial advisors as needed.

  • Manage quarterly estimates, projections, and tax calendar compliance.

  • Support financial reporting and reconciliations related to tax activity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

  • CPA required (or equivalent advanced tax credential such as EA).

  • 7+ years of progressive tax experience, with significant focus on agricultural and farm-related entities.

  • Demonstrated expertise in partnership taxation and multi-entity agricultural structures.

  • Advanced knowledge of agricultural depreciation strategies and land-related tax issues.

  • Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance requirements.

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage complex filings independently.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
