Golden Pass LNG, a joint venture between QatarEnergy and ExxonMobil, has the mission to become the premier LNG export company in North America by bringing clean energy from Texas to power the world. To achieve those goals, we are mobilizing a diverse team of experienced and talented professionals. Headquartered in Downtown Houston, Golden Pass LNG commenced operation of Train 1 in 2026 and continues to progress construction and commissioning on Trains 2 and 3. Once fully operational, Golden Pass LNG will have the capacity to produce over 18 million metric tons of LNG per year.

Job Summary / Purpose

The primary responsibility of the Senior Tax Accountant is to support the Senior Tax Manager and the Tax Director in managing the company's effective tax planning, reporting, and compliance. This role will be responsible for a variety of important tax functions and will work with contractors and external service providers. The Senior Tax Accountant will also collaborate with various stakeholders across multiple departments.

Essential Duties / Functions

  • Prepare federal and state partnership income/franchise tax returns and supporting workpapers as well as the related Texas franchise tax provision calculations.
  • Prepares certain property tax rendition/valuation supporting workpapers and schedules related to abatement agreement compliance with relevant jurisdictions as well as reviewing and addressing items related to annual assessments. The Senior Tax Accountant will work directly with the Company's external service provider on property tax compliance and reporting matters.
  • Reviews sales and use tax returns and supporting workpapers.
  • Prepare certain managerial and financial accounting schedules, general ledger reconciliations, and SAP entries related to the job functions described in points 1. to
  • Assist with relevant tax audits and examinations and respond to inquiries related to tax matters.
  • Serve as a contact for the business and related owner reporting requirements, strive to align stakeholder/company tax objectives.
  • Partner with other functions to identify and advise tax department management on tax opportunities/risks.
  • Stay up to date on legislative and regulatory changes and assist tax department management with advising the business on the latest tax rules, their implications and appropriate application to Golden Pass.
  • Own assigned tax department processes, controls, and documentation related to the job function.
  • Special projects as needed.
  • Support company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence including reviewing area of responsibility for improvement opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 4+ years of overall tax experience preferably within the energy industry.
  • Experience in top ERP systems, preferably SAP S/4 HANA
  • Experience in tax preparation and/or review of tax returns in the following categories: sales & use, income/franchise, and/or property tax returns.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position.

  • knowledge of income tax matters, sales and use taxes, property taxes, state franchise tax, and other tax issues.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues involving multiple tax disciplines.
  • Ability to independently resolve complex problems where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of numerous factors.
  • Ability to exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation of criterion for obtaining results.
  • Income tax compliance software experience
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office tools

  • CPA or relevant tax/accounting certification preferred

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment, 5 days per week (flexible hours)
