Senior Tax AccountantLocation: Tulsa, OK (Zip Code: 74132) Important Client Hiring Requirements
We are looking for someone with 5+ years of experience specifically in a Senior or Manager-level position within public accounting. Candidates may have 5+ years of overall tax experience, but the client requires demonstrated experience at the appropriate senior level.
The selected candidate will be replacing a long-term employee with approximately 30 years of experience who was responsible for some of the firm's larger and more complex clients. These clients include complex multi-entity organizations requiring detailed tax work, strong technical expertise, ownership of engagements, and excellent client communication.
Candidates must therefore demonstrate proven experience with complex multi-entity clients, detailed tax preparation and review, engagement ownership, and direct client communication.
For candidates who are solely remote, the client requires especially strong and proven experience matching these expectations. Candidates without demonstrated senior-level experience handling complex clients and engagements will not be considered.

Role OverviewThis is a core senior technical position focused on the end-to-end preparation, review, and strategic analysis of federal and state tax returns. Working in a structured hybrid setup out of the Tulsa, OK facility, you will take ownership of handling complex individual and corporate tax filings, providing vital planning support, ensuring absolute compliance with current tax regulations, and delivering elite client service.
Key ResponsibilitiesTax Review & Approval
Review comprehensive federal and state income tax returns thoroughly before final partner sign-off.
Take ownership of detailed technical review for complex client engagements.
Complex Tax Preparation
Prepare highly complex federal and state tax returns for individual clients and diverse business structures.
Handle complex multi-entity organizations and challenging tax situations.
Financial Analysis
Perform continuous account analysis, thorough financial reviews, and critical balance sheet reconciliations.
Analyze financial information to identify tax and accounting issues.
Strategic Tax Planning
Provide data-driven tax planning advice and identify innovative, tax-efficient financial strategies for clients.
Research and interpret applicable federal and state tax regulations.
Client Collaboration
Partner directly with clients to securely collect technical documentation and resolve inquiries.
Manage client expectations and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
Communicate complex tax matters clearly and professionally.
Regulatory Compliance
Stay completely current on shifting local, state, and federal tax laws.
Ensure accurate and timely compliance with all applicable tax requirements.
Core Experience Level: Minimum 5+ years of experience in a Senior or Manager-level position within public accounting. Overall years of tax experience alone will not be sufficient.
Complex Client Experience: Proven experience managing or owning complex clients, large engagements, and multi-entity organizations.
Public Accounting Background: Strong, proven track record working within a public accounting environment.
Tax Technical Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of federal and state tax preparation, tax review, accounting principles, reconciliation processes, and current tax regulations.
Client Management: Demonstrated ability to communicate directly with clients, manage expectations, resolve complex tax questions, and maintain strong client relationships.
Work Mobility: Full capacity to align with the hybrid structure (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) in Tulsa, OK.
Remote Candidates: Candidates seeking a fully remote arrangement must demonstrate substantial proven experience handling complex multi-entity clients, senior-level tax review, engagement ownership, and direct client communication.
Preferred QualificationsActive CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license is preferred but not strictly required.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
Experience managing large and complex business clients.
Experience with multi-entity organizations and sophisticated tax engagements.
Demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple concurrent client priorities under tight filing deadlines.
Strong tax planning and client advisory experience.
