Senior Tax Manager - Laurel, MSWho: A highly experienced tax professional with at least ten years of public accounting experience and strong leadership and client relationship skills.What: Leads tax engagements, oversees final technical reviews, manages staff performance, and strengthens client relationships while ensuring compliance with changing tax laws.When: Full-time leadership position available immediately.Where: Primary office location is Hattiesburg or Laurel, Mississippi, with a hybrid option available upon request.Why: To support continued firm growth by providing expert technical oversight, exceptional client service, and proactive team and business development leadership.Office Environment: A collaborative, professional, and client-focused setting that values communication, mentorship, and high-quality work.Salary: Competitive and commensurate with senior-level experience.Position Overview:The Senior Tax Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing complex tax engagements, ensuring technical accuracy, maintaining strong client relationships, developing staff, managing workflows, and supporting firm growth through quality service and business development efforts.Key Responsibilities:- Maintain and strengthen existing client relationships to support long-term retention.- Communicate with clients to ensure their best interests are consistently prioritized.- Perform final technical review of tax returns and related documents.- Research complex tax issues and recommend solutions.- Stay current on evolving tax laws and accounting procedures.- Plan, schedule, and manage client engagements to ensure all deadlines are met.- Direct and support staff by setting objectives, monitoring budgets, and fostering a positive, high-performing work environment.- Oversee quality control and evaluate personnel performance.- Manage tasks and projects assigned to staff and supervisors.- Mentor and develop team members at multiple levels.- Build and nurture networks to drive new business opportunities.- Manage billing, collections, WIP monitoring, aging, and write-downs.- Participate in and help facilitate internal CPE and training programs.Qualifications:- CPA certification preferred.- Business development experience within a CPA firm is preferred.- Minimum of ten years of public accounting experience.- Demonstrated leadership and team development skills.- Strong decision-making skills with the initiative to act independently.- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage a heavy workload.If you’re interested in learning more about this opportunity or would like to discuss your qualifications, please apply now.
