Position Summary:

Your Impact (Essential Duties):

Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the firm’s most complex tax engagements.Serve as a key advisor to clients on tax planning strategies, transaction structuring, succession planning, and long-term tax minimization approaches.

Maintain current in-depth knowledge of and able to read and interpret estate planning documents such as trusts and wills.

Prepare or review a diverse variety of complex returns for our high-net-worth clients and their personal holdings, which includes preparation or review of personal, partnership, corporate, trust, foundation, and gift tax returns, related tax work papers, and financials.

  • Knowledge and experience preparing and reviewing complex 1040 individual tax returns
  • Knowledge and experience preparing and reviewing 709 gift tax returns
    • Understanding of gift and Generation Skipping Transfer (GST) tax rules
  • Knowledge and experience preparing and reviewing 1041 estate and trust tax returns
    • Electing Small Business Trust (ESBT) Returns
    • Trust accounting concepts
    • Understanding of Distributable Net Income and its relationship to income taxation
  • Knowledge and experience preparing and reviewing 706 estate tax returns
    • Experience with reading Wills
    • Experience with Trust Agreements
    • Knowledge of various 706 schedules and requirements

Lead the intake of new estates and assist clients with estate administration issues.Oversee the review of highly complex tax returns, ensuring technical accuracy, alignment with client goals, and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.Guide the development and execution of engagement strategies, coordinating with internal specialists and external advisors as needed to deliver comprehensive client service.Coach and mentor managers and senior associates through goal-setting, feedback, and performance reviews, with a focus on leadership development and succession planning.Cultivate deep, trusted client relationships, becoming a strategic partner in their financial decision-making and advocating for their long-term success.Collaborate across service lines—such as assurance, advisory, and client accounting—to provide integrated, value-added solutions.Contribute to firm growth by participating in business development efforts, including client pitches, proposal development, and pricing strategies.Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking forums to enhance visibility and build connections.Promote a culture of continuous learning by leading internal trainings, supporting certification efforts, and modeling technical excellence.Oversee resource allocation and engagement planning to ensure optimal team productivity, profitability, and client satisfaction across the tax function.Perform other duties and displays flexibility to take on a variety of responsibilities assigned by firm leadership.Meet annual billable hour and other targets to fulfill individual performance and overall firm productivity.Your Background:8+ years of experience in tax preparationCPA license, JD, or LLM in TaxationBachelor’s degree in accounting or related fieldDeep expertise in federal, state, and local tax laws, with a proven ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to diverse client scenariosDemonstrated success in delivering strategic tax planning, including entity structuring, succession planning, and transaction advisoryAdvanced proficiency in tax compliance software and research tools; able to leverage technology to improve workflow and client insightsProven ability to lead, coach, and develop multi-level teams across engagements while promoting technical growth and performance excellenceExceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex tax concepts clearly to clients, peers, and stakeholdersStrong business acumen and ability to align tax strategy with client objectives and firm growth initiativesOutstanding organizational and project management skills to lead concurrent engagements and meet critical deadlinesHigh attention to detail combined with the ability to see the big picture and provide forward-looking tax guidanceAnalytical and solution-oriented mindset with the capacity to resolve nuanced tax issues and contribute to firm-wide thought leadershipFull-time commitment and flexibility to work beyond regular hours to meet team deadlines

Pay range for CO applicants- $145,000-175,000 per year
