Job Description

Job Title: Senior Communications Specialist

Location: Hill AFB, UT. – (On-Site)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Communications Specialist to lead the development of communication material for the 719th Test Squadron, supporting the ICBM developmental test and evaluation program. This role is ideal for a professional who excels at the intersection of technology and strategic communications. You will be responsible for translating complex technical information into compelling narratives for a wide range of audiences, from engineers to executive management and Department of War stakeholders. This strategic role involves shaping the overarching communication strategy, and ensuring all messaging is clear, concise, and consistent across the organization.

Duties:

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with test engineering to develop communication materials, including executive level briefings, fact sheets, and reports.
  • Serve as a communications liaison, ensuring consistent messaging with internal teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Translate complex technical engineering concepts and program updates into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Prepare senior leaders for engagements by developing targeted messaging and briefing materials for audiences at the MAJCOM, congressional, and industry partner levels.
  • Develop and maintain a library of templates for technical plans, reports, and PowerPoint presentations to provide consistency and brand alignment.
  • Review and edit technical documents including test plans, test reports and official memorandums developed by test engineering.
  • Oversee the entire communication lifecycle, from initial strategy and message development through to dissemination and impact analysis.
  • Mentor team members on communication best practices, persuasive writing, and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or related Field.  *Experience may be substituted for education with customer approval
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a communications, public affairs, or corporate communications role, with a strong preference for experience within the defense or technology sectors.
  • Experience and advanced skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Tableau, or other visualization and communication applications.
  • Preferred understanding of acquisition lifecycles, milestones, and data required by decision makers over time.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in strategic communications, executive-level briefing development, and multi-channel content creation.
  • Demonstrated experience providing direct communication support to senior executives or high-ranking officials.
  • Exceptional ability to synthesize complex technical, operational, and policy information into clear, concise, and persuasive communication products.
  • Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across diverse teams.

Security Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance

Other Essential Job Functions:

  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%.
