Job Description

Mill is a waste prevention technology company reimagining what it means to eliminate waste, starting with food. We build smart systems and infrastructure for homes, businesses, and municipalities that transform food scraps from landfill-bound waste into valuable resources, including chicken feed. Tens of thousands of Mill's residential food recyclers are already helping households divert millions of pounds of food scraps every year, paving the way for our upcoming launch of Mill Commercial-the industry's first end-to-end solution for managing, understanding, and preventing food waste in commercial environments (e.g. grocery, restaurants, food services). At Mill, we are passionate about building easy-to-use, beautifully designed technologies that keep food in the food system and out of landfills.

About the Role:

We are looking for a high-caliber senior technical program manager to drive the software program for Mill's commercial hardware. You'll work across functions and with software engineers to build and launch device firmware, displays, and connectivity with cloud services to meet product requirements, and ultimately, to enable Mill's mission. This is a great opportunity to join an incredible, high-performing team, and exhibit strong leadership and judgment as Mill navigates its first commercial product launch!

Responsibilities

As Mill's Commercial Sr. Embedded Software Technical Program Manager, you will:

  • Work alongside engineers and quality assurance teams to deliver Mill's commercial hardware products to market.
  • Lead cross-functionally to define schedules, requirements, resources and integration plans.
  • Communicate program status and prioritize initiatives.
  • Drive product delivery and technology reviews.
  • Use technical judgment to challenge proposals and build consensus.
  • Proactively identify program risks and drive mitigation plans.
  • Maintain the team's focus on goal-oriented results in a fast paced startup environment with many moving parts

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, or technical product/program management experience.
  • Experience with the development and delivery of hardware products, including familiarity with sensors, actuators and computer vision systems.
  • Experience with firmware development and testing
  • Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception through delivery to post launch.
  • Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope.
  • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership.
  • Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products.
  • Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience.
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
  • Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs (e.g., battery life vs. software performance) to non-technical stakeholders.
  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $185k to $210k, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs.
