Job Title

Senior Trade Compliance Analyst (Export Controls / ITAR / EAR)

The Sr Trade Compliance Analyst is responsible for interpreting and advising on export controls and sanctions regulations, including EAR, ITAR, and re-export requirements. This role participates in classification, licensing strategy, and risk assessments while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. The position engages with regulatory agencies such as BIS, DDTC, and OFAC and other non-US government agencies, and will serve as the primary point of contact with authorities. The Sr Trade Compliance Analyst will support the development of policies, maintain classification and licensing records, deliver training, and escalate high-risk export and sanctions issues to management.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and advise on EAR, ITAR, sanctions, licensing, export and re‑export controls.
  • Utilize technology‑enabled solutions, including generative AI, to enhance regulatory research and analysis, subject to validation, documentation, and human review.
  • Perform export control classifications, including ECCN determinations, jurisdiction analysis (EAR vs. ITAR), and technology classification, support regulatory research, independent assessments, and comprehensive documentation of classification decisions and recommendations.
  • Perform de minimis, Foreign Direct Product (FDP), and re-export origin trigger analyses, including application of regulatory thresholds, determination of export control applicability, and documentation of findings and recommendations.
  • Assess export implications of trade remedies (restricted end‑users, retaliation risk).
  • Apply export controls and sanctions regulations, including, but not limited to EAR, ITAR, OFAC and other government requirements where CoorsTek is located, and provide regulatory guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Determine export licensing needs, exceptions, and conditions.
  • Contribute to the development of sanctions policies and procedures. Maintain supporting work instructions and documentation.
  • Export control & sanctions risk assessments.
  • Support regulatory strategy for BIS/DDTC/OFAC and other import global governing agency inquiries.
  • Act as primary point of contact with export control and sanctions authorities, escalating complex matters as needed.
  • Develop and deliver export control and sanctions training to ensure awareness of applicable regulatory requirements and internal compliance expectations.
  • Maintain ECCN, jurisdiction, license, and sanctions analyses.
  • Perform export control jurisdiction, licensing, and sanctions screening, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development of export control recordkeeping standards, and ensure adherence to established requirements.
  • Escalate high‑risk export decisions and restricted party issues.

Job Requirements:

Education

  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business, Law, or a related field.

Experience

  • Required: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in export controls, sanctions compliance, or global trade regulatory operations within a manufacturing, defense, or technology environment.
  • Preferred: Experience with advanced ceramics, semiconductor equipment, medical devices, or dual-use goods.
  • Demonstrated expertise in U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), including ECCN classification, jurisdiction determinations, and de minimis/foreign direct product (FDP) rule analysis.
  • Working knowledge of ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) and USML jurisdiction boundaries.
  • Proficiency in OFAC sanctions programs, including SDN/Entity List screening and restricted-party due diligence.
  • Familiarity with multilateral export control regimes (Wassenaar Arrangement, MTCR, Nuclear Suppliers Group, Australia Group).
  • Awareness of emerging legislation and regulatory proposals (e.g., MATCH Act).
  • Preferred Experience: Nuclear - Experience with DOE regulations; Worked in a multinational company with experience in GB, EU and APAC in addition to Americas.

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex regulations, assess risk, and provide clear, defensible written recommendations.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft regulatory memoranda, executive summaries, and customer-facing responses.
  • Audit-Readiness: Experience maintaining audit-defensible documentation and supporting internal/external compliance reviews (e.g., BIS, CBP, DEKSA).
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to engage cross-functionally with legal, engineering, sales, and leadership teams, as well as external parties (customs brokers, government agencies, customers).
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage modern technology-enabled tools, including generative AI, to enhance compliance research, reporting, and process efficiency.
  • Comfort working with data analytics, dashboards (e.g., Smartsheet, Power BI), and ERP/trade management systems (e.g., SAP GTS).
  • Mentorship: Ability to guide and support operational analysts in regulatory research, classification, and screening activities.

Certifications (Preferred) and Other Requirements

  • Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO) or designation related to the position.
  • Completion of BIS export control seminars or equivalent training programs.
  • Required: U.S. Person status as defined under EAR/ITAR (if required by program access).
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed (estimated 10-15%).

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 92,000.00 - USD 121,440.00
