Job Description
Are you an experienced Utility Coordinator ready to take a lead role on complex transportation design projects? VIAS Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Utility Coordinator to play a pivotal role in building our utility services practice, mentoring staff, and driving strategic growth in our transportation infrastructure group. This is a high-impact role working closely with the firm's ownership, including supporting roadway, bridge, and multimodal design projects in partnership with NCDOT and SCDOT.
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead utility coordination efforts for transportation design projects with NCDOT and/or SCDOT
· Identify existing utilities and potential conflicts through plan reviews and coordination
· Coordinate with public and private utility companies
· Serve as the primary point of contact between DOTs, utilities, and design teams
· Review design plans to assess utility impacts and relocation needs
· Track utility coordination schedules and commitments
· Facilitate coordination meetings and document decisions
· Support preparation of utility agreements and permits
· Ensure compliance with DOT and FHWA requirements
· Identify risks and support mitigation strategies
Requirements
What we’re looking for
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
· 5+ years of utility coordination experience
· Experience with NCDOT or SCDOT preferred
· Knowledge of utility relocation and ROW processes
· Ability to interpret engineering plans
· Valid driver’s license
· Leadership and mentoring experience (preferred but not required)
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Entrepreneurial mindset and eagerness to build something
