[What you will be working on]

We are seeking a skilled UX/UI Designer to lead the end-to-end user experience for a core manpower capability development product. This role spans employer-facing workflows, internal operational processes, and platform constraints within a regulated environment.

As the dedicated designer for this product, you will shape problem framing, user journeys, and design direction from discovery through delivery, while contributing to and evolving design patterns and standards aligned with Government Digital Service Standards. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on how businesses and internal users interact with government digital services.

You will work as part of a cross-functional product team, partnering closely with Product and Engineering, with autonomy over design direction and professional mentorship from the Design Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the end-to-end design process for a core enterprise product, from discovery and problem framing through concept development, validation, and delivery

  • Lead user research and synthesis to inform product direction, including interviews, usability testing, and other appropriate methods

  • Translate complex user, business, and regulatory requirements into clear, usable end-to-end journeys and interaction flows

  • Partner closely with Product Managers and Engineers to shape solutions that balance user needs, feasibility, and platform constraints

  • Contribute to and evolve shared design patterns, components, and standards where needed, aligned with Government Digital Service Standards

  • Ensure design decisions are clearly articulated, documented, and communicated to stakeholders across disciplines

  • Support consistency and quality across the product by applying design standards pragmatically rather than over-engineering solutions

  • Continuously improve the product through iteration, using qualitative and quantitative feedback to guide prioritisation and refinements

[What we are looking for]

  • Demonstrated experience owning complex UX problems end-to-end in enterprise, B2B, or regulated environments

  • Strong ability to frame ambiguous problem spaces and translate them into clear, actionable design direction

  • Experience conducting and applying user research to inform product decisions

  • Solid foundation in interaction design, information architecture, and usability principles; visual polish is a plus but not the sole focus

  • Comfortable working with incomplete information, legacy systems, and cross-functional constraints

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders, and influence decisions through evidence and clear reasoning

  • Familiarity with design systems and standards, with the judgement to apply them pragmatically

  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to explain design rationale to varied audiences

  • Self-directed, reflective, and open to feedback, with interest in contributing to the public good through digital services
