The ideal candidate will bring at least 10 years of experience as a lead analyst covering a range of fundamental credit sectors.

In this role, the successful candidate will partner closely with the Head of the Fundamental Methodology Development Group, as well as other team members and the various rating groups. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead or contribute to the development or refinement of credit rating methodologies, establishing analytical standards.
  • Lead or oversee the background research (quantitative and qualitative) supporting the methodology development work.
  • Interact with and maintain relationships with the heads of the various rating teams to ensure transparency on project progress and needs, and identify opportunities to enhance and/or develop methodologies.
  • Contribute to the development of analytical tools used in credit analysis, and methodology development and application.
  • Oversee the work of junior analysts; help train and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail and analytical integrity.
  • Adhere to rigorous regulatory requirements, including detailed record-keeping, training, and compliance with Morningstar DBRS policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of fundamental credit experience, with substantial exposure at a rating agency, lending institution, private credit platform, or a comparable organization.

  • Demonstrated depth of experience in some fundamental credit sectors (e.g., corporates, financials, project finance, public finance, and/or sovereign).

  • Strong foundation in financial analysis, including both theoretical frameworks and practical application.

  • Proven experience managing and mentoring analytical teams in a performance-driven environment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex analyses for senior audiences.

  • Advanced technical proficiency in Excel, Python, financial modelling, and data analysis, including experience leveraging artificial intelligence tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot Studio).

  • Strong research and analytical capabilities, with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining high-quality output.

  • Proactive, collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, data science, economics, or a related discipline required; advanced degrees (e.g., Masters, MBA, CFA) preferred.

The above is for a Senior Vice President position. However, candidates with slightly less experience may be considered for a Vice President position.
