Senior Web Optimization Engineer

Empowered Staffing is partnered with a leading digital marketing agency to identify a Senior Web Optimization Engineer to help build and scale its growing Website Services CRO division.

This role will serve as a senior, hands-on technical partner responsible for identifying and implementing opportunities to improve website conversion, user experience, and performance. The Senior Web Optimization Engineer will assess client websites, implement and troubleshoot analytics, translate technical and behavioral findings into prioritized recommendations, and deliver approved website improvements across lead-generation and ecommerce clients.

What You'll Be Doing:

•* Conduct technical website audits covering architecture, CMS limitations, analytics, conversion paths, performance, accessibility, integrations, and implementation risks.

•* Implement, audit, and troubleshoot GA4, Google Tag Manager, data-layer events, form tracking, conversion tracking, and ecommerce tracking.

•* Analyze technical and behavioral data and prioritize recommendations based on impact, effort, risk, and business value.

•* Implement approved website and CRO improvements, including landing pages, forms, navigation, checkout flows, responsive layouts, and reusable components.

•* Build and QA A/B tests and experiments, validate targeting and tracking, and implement winning experiences.

•* Develop accessible, maintainable, and high-performing websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WordPress, and Shopify.

•* Support technical SEO initiatives, including performance improvements, Core Web Vitals, and other technical recommendations.

•* Estimate development effort, identify dependencies and risks, and recommend scalable implementation approaches.

•* Manage staging, version control, testing, backups, deployments, rollbacks, and post-launch validation.

•* Collaborate with SEO, paid media, design, and strategy teams to turn website traffic and insights into measurable business results.

•* Participate in client discovery, scoping, planning, troubleshooting, and presentations when technical or CRO expertise is needed.

•* Develop reusable standards, components, and documentation to improve quality and delivery efficiency across the growing service line.

Required Skills Experience:

•* 5+ years of relevant web development, analytics implementation, or website optimization experience.

•* Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting production website changes in WordPress and Shopify or a comparable ecommerce platform.

•* Strong HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and browser-debugging skills with experience building responsive, production-ready websites.

•* Strong hands-on experience with GA4, Google Tag Manager, data layers, conversion tracking, and analytics implementation.

•* Demonstrated experience conducting technical website audits and translating findings into prioritized recommendations.

•* Working knowledge of CRO, A/B testing and experimentation, behavioral analytics, Core Web Vitals, technical SEO, and accessibility standards.

•* Experience with version control, staging environments, testing, deployment, and production website maintenance.

•* Strong troubleshooting, technical judgment, communication, and collaboration skills.

•* Ability to work across multiple website environments while maintaining quality, performance, and stability.

Desired Skills Experience:

•* Experience with experimentation platforms, test design, or statistical analysis.

•* Experience with Shopify Liquid, Adobe Commerce, ecommerce analytics, or complex data-layer implementations.

•* Experience with New Relic, PHP, APIs, integrations, or visual-regression testing.

•* Agency or consulting experience.

•* Experience developing reusable processes, standards, or solutions for a web optimization service.
