Essential Functions Statement(s)

• Utilizes proper food handling and food service techniques. 
• Ensures tables are perfectly set, chairs are in place and clean and floor is swept. 
• Takes orders from resident, guest or employee in a timely manner. Must be knowledgeable of all specials and general description of all food items being served. 
• Provides service in a friendly and timely manner. 
• Executes the sanitation process by the following: Washes tables and chairs in the dining room; Sweeps and mops the dining room floor as assigned; Takes trash to the dumpster; Washes dishes and silverware according to dish washing procedures; Puts clean dishes and silverware away; Assists with cleaning of equipment and kitchen as assigned; Maintains clean, neat, and orderly work areas 
• Buses tables and resets for the next meal service according to established policy and procedure. 
• Assists with salad bar or dessert preparation as directed 
• Maintains appropriate, effective communication with residents, and with residents' family and co-workers 
• Participates in relevant educational and training activities as appropriate 
• Performs all other duties as assigned or directed

Skills & Abilities

• Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred
• Experience: No prior experience necessary
• Other Requirements: Must express or demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population. Interacts with guests, residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner. Must be capable of reading and writing the English language; follows written and verbal instruction and work assignments. Must have general working knowledge of and ability to use kitchen equipment. Must demonstrate a warm, outgoing personality. Must be able to work flexible hours, such as during staff shortages or emergency situations.
