Job Summary
The Communications Assistant supports the Corporate Communications team in promoting the organization's mission, services, and initiatives. This entry-level role assists in creating, updating, and managing digital and marketing content across platforms such as the website, intranet, and social media. The position works closely with team members and departments to develop engaging communications for employees, patients, and the community.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: HS Diploma or GED required
- Maryland resident
- Individuals eligible for the Maryland Service Year Program (generally ages 18-24)
- Experience: Entry-level; related experience in writing, marketing, communications, or digital media preferred
- Licensure/Certification: None required
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong writing and communication skills
- High attention to detail and organization
- Creativity and interest in digital communications and marketing
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
What You'll Do
- Update and maintain website, intranet, and social media content
- Assist with marketing and communication campaigns
- Help produce and distribute internal and external communication materials
- Gather photos, stories, and content from departments across the organization
- Support internal communications to employees
- Collaborate with the Corporate Communications team on various projects
What the Job is Really Like
- Work involves balancing multiple projects and deadlines at the same time
- Some days are content-heavy (writing, editing), while others are more collaborative
- You'll need to track down information from different departments, which can take persistence
- Deadlines for campaigns or communications can create busy, fast-paced periods
- Occasional flexibility may be needed for events, photos, or urgent communication needs
Work Environment & Demands
- Office-based role with regular computer and digital platform use
- Frequent use of content management systems and Microsoft Office tools
- Requires strong attention to detail and sustained focus
- Regular collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders
- Primarily sedentary work with minimal physical demands
