Job Description

Description:Operate unrelated machine tools and a variety of repetitive associated fabrication duties utilized to produce drive shafts, parts and assemblies where methods, procedures and techniques are established.

Follow prescribed procedures, recognized methods, drawings, operation sheets and verbal instructions to operate machine tools, and perform various fabrication operations on drive shafts, parts and assemblies.

Operations performed include dynamic balancing turning, grinding, drilling, boring, reaming on conventional or numerically controlled machines, where the work performed does not involve planning and is normally repetitive. Use available or prescribed fixtures, clamps etc.

Check work using a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments to ensure work conforms to quality standards.

Responsible to make adjustments on machine tools in order to meet and maintain quality standards

Use manual or hydraulic press to straighten and check alignment of shafts; hand and/or power equipment to hone, clean and polish surface to remove scratches, blemishes and other imperfections.

Mix and apply bonding adhesives, press bearings on shafts, etc.

Follow prescribed procedures in use of data terminal to log in and extract required machining and fabricating control information.

Complete necessary work records.

Perform all the related work of a comparable or lower skill level as directed.

Refer questionable conditions higher grade fabricators or Working Leader.

As required, segregate waste material and follow good housekeeping practices.

Basic Qualifications:

Requires knowledge of arithmetic involving decimals and fractions as applied to reading drawings and specifications. Able to use variable measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicator, calipers, etc. Some specialized knowledge of shaft straightening and fabrications procedures.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week
