Job Summary:
The Shareholder Relations Manager serves as the primary liaison between the ownership and its governance, Senior Management, and the Board. This role ensures that shareholders are informed, engaged, and educated, while acting as the first point of contact for Shareholders. This individual, responsible for overseeing and managing Shareholder relations, will develop and execute value-added Shareholder educational forums/meetings, initiate various forms of communication with relation to both shareholder and business information/events, and build relationships through a variety of strategies to reach The Clemens Family Corporation’s Shareholders of all ages. This position guarantees that shareholder interests are represented, company values are upheld, and communication and transparency are maintained across all entities.
Reports to: Chief Legal Officer
Key Responsibilities:
- Shareholder Objectives (Communicate, Educate, and Engage) – 60%
- Develop overall strategy and vision for Shareholder engagement
- Manage all Shareholder communication as the first point of contact (spreadsheet of contact information, as well as Shareholder inquiries, in collaboration with Shareholder Services)
- Maintain accurate Shareholder records/inquiries, documentation, and contact information in collaboration with Shareholder Services
- Cultivate relationships with shareholders by way of personal interaction through phone/text/email/in-person conversations and meetings
- Develop, create, and deliver regular communication with Shareholders that includes: Shareholder-related event information, company information, Shareholder milestones and touchpoints, as well as other relative information
- Oversee and manage all Shareholder communication and marketing platforms (email/phone/text/online/printed publications) to ensure message and voice are consistent and engaging
- Create, organize and facilitate all Shareholder events and age-appropriate connectivity opportunities, including: Shareholder education/business meetings, Annual Shareholder meeting, serving opportunities, and age-specific events
- Maintain Shareholder budget (inclusive of projecting for upcoming fiscal year and other special projects)
- Coordinate accurate and accessible reports for Shareholders, including financial summaries, board updates, and business performance highlights.
- Serve as a neutral point of contact for Shareholder inquiries and concerns
- Plan, organize, and oversee any gift distributions (for family Team Members and Shareholders)
- Shareholder Governance – 15%
- Oversee and manage the Shareholder Council, inclusive of facilitating Council meetings (develop agenda and conduct quarterly meetings)
- Set yearly goals with the Council and identify opportunities to increase Shareholder satisfaction through surveys and engagement planning
- Conduct regular check-ins with all members of the Council to develop relationships, discuss further action items, and ensure accountability of actions, implementations, and effectiveness of all Council members (through yearly review process and ongoing observation/conversation)
- Share educational opportunities (in-person and online) for Council to gain a greater understanding about family business best practices, ideas, and other Shareholder information
- Lead Council succession planning (solicit/maintain members on the Council)
- Develop and maintain relationships with the Trustees, Family Unit Representatives, Shareholder Services, and provide insights and visibility regarding Shareholders (i.e. sharing quarterly Board of Director updates, initiating a yearly governance meeting, etc.)
- Coordinate with Shareholder Services on redemptions, updated contact information, and other related matters and provide timely updates to the Council
- Family Employment – 10%
- Facilitate Family Team Member recruitment in collaboration with the CEO with the intent to recruit and develop skilled family members to work in the business
- Develop and maintain relationships with all Family Team Members through planning and execution of engagement opportunities/events for Family Team Members (i.e. meals, retreat, etc.)
- Create and sustain Family Team Member programs to educate younger Shareholders and family members about the Clemens legacy, as well as company information (shadowing, mentorship, internships, summer work opportunities)
- Strategic, Cross-Functional Support – 10%
- Collaborate with Corporate Social Responsibility Manager to provide opportunities for Shareholders in which they can support the efforts of the business through community engagement, volunteerism, and Team Member engagement (i.e. Christmas & Easter product distributions, other CFG-related volunteer events)
- Coordinate company special projects and initiatives (serving, facility upkeep, etc)
- Miscellaneous – 5%
- Preservation and showcasing of family and company historical artifacts and memorabilia
- Share family legacy through community presentations and company visits
- Facilitate family business visits and information sharing
Qualifications:
- 4-year undergraduate degree
- Alignment with CFC’s Core Values and the Clemens Way
- Strong understanding of CFC’s legacy, governance framework, and Shareholder relations with a long-term perspective and a dedication to CFC’s sustainability, stewardship, and cascading of values and legacy
- Enthusiastic, passionate, and strategic thinker with exceptional interpersonal, organizational, presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage and build consensus and enthusiasm among stakeholders
- Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively in a cross-functional manner with all stakeholders, inclusive of management, Shareholders, and Team Members
- Experience with multi-faceted communication approaches, meeting facilitation, people management, and event planning
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with Shareholders, family members, and Team Members
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other digital communication platforms
Preferred:
- A current Clemens Family Corporation Shareholder or Clemens family member
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and proven ability to manage and build complex stakeholder relationships and communicate financial and strategic information clearly
- Training, certification, and/or understanding about family business best practices
