Summary:
The Shift Coordinator is a clinically competent registered professional nurse who delegates, coordinates, and supports nursing staff in the delivery of safe, high‑quality care on the assigned shift. This role provides real‑time leadership by overseeing workflow, monitoring case progress, and serving as a resource for problem identification and resolution. The Shift Coordinator mentors' staff, promotes a team‑based model of care, and upholds professional nursing standards throughout the surgical department.
The position requires strong clinical judgment, effective communication with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team, and the ability to coach and guide staff in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment. The Shift Coordinator models professionalism, reinforces accountability to departmental policies, and supports safe surgical practice and regulatory readiness.
Requirements:
The Shift Coordinator must be a clinically competent Registered Nurse, currently licensed in the State of Illinois, with a strong background in the surgical department. CPR certification is required, and a BSN degree is preferred. The ideal candidate demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge and skills specific to perioperative nursing and provides effective leadership within a high‑acuity setting.
Prior supervisory or charge nurse experience is preferred, as is specialty certification in perioperative nursing. The candidate must exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills, professional integrity, and the ability to proactively identify and resolve problems. Success in this role requires sound clinical judgment, the ability to mentor staff, and a commitment to maintaining professional nursing standards and a collaborative team environment.
Work Shift Details:
Days: 10 hours, Full time position that can be either 0600-1630 or 0600-1830. Weekends may be required.

The final pay rate offered may be more than the posted range based on several factors including but not limited to: licensure, certifications, work experience, education, knowledge, demonstrated abilities, internal equity, market data, and more.
The expected pay for this position is listed below:
$35.00 - $42.50
