Job Description

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has an exciting opportunity at the Intensive Behavior Center. This position is for a 2pm-10pm shift .This position is open until filled with frequent screening of applicants.

The Intensive Behavior Center (IBC) is an intensive, short-term treatment facility for individuals who have intellectual disabilities and co-occurring mental illnesses. IBC provides an environment for building healthy, effective, and fulfilling lives so those receiving treatment can live successfully in the community after discharge.

The Shift Manager is responsible for all aspects of the management of assigned residential treatment units during assigned shifts including implementation of client treatment, scheduling of Direct Support Professionals, direct supervision of Direct Support Professionals, and maintaining the physical plant.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Behaviors):

  • Working knowledge of developmental, behavioral, and psychiatric disorders.
  • Knowledge of staffing and supervisory methods, practices and techniques in a 24 hour a day/seven day a week environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to observe details and make appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to operate personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
  • Ability to deal calmly with high stress situations.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of Psychiatric Aide training.
  • Four years of experience providing care to individuals with developmental, behavioral or psychiatric disorders.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in a 24 hour a day/seven day a week facility.
  • Other equivalent combinations of education and related experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Preferred: Shift Manager training, or successful completion of the training within six months of hire.
