Short Order Cook

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and efficient Short Order Cook to join our food service team at a busy travel plaza. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing fast, high-quality meals in a high-traffic environment catering to travelers, truckers, and tourists. You'll work in a fast-paced kitchen preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner items with consistency and attention to food safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare made-to-order meals such as burgers, sandwiches, eggs, pancakes, and other short order items.
• Operate grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all health and safety standards are met.
• Stock and restock stations with necessary supplies.
• Communicate effectively with front counter staff and other kitchen team members.
• Ensure orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assist with inventory rotation and food storage.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a short order cook or line cooks preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Strong time management and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and variable shifts.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Lift up to 40 lbs. as needed.
• Work in a hot and noisy kitchen environment.
