Job Title: Sign Installer - Full Time
Location: FASTSIGNS Oakland
Reports To: Production Manager
Overview: FASTSIGNS Oakland is looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Sign Installer to join our team. This role is critical to delivering high-quality signage and graphics to our clients across the Bay Area. From walls and windows to vehicles and construction zones, your work will bring brands to life in the real world. The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, physically capable, and ready to grow. We're looking to train someone who can become a core part of our install team - someone our clients recognize, trust, and request by name.
Key Responsibilities:
Sign Installation
- Install a wide variety of signage, including dimensional letters, vinyl graphics, ADA signage, standoff-mounted panels, window films, wall murals, and more - on walls, ceilings, vehicles, glass, drywall, concrete, and other surfaces.
Site Preparation and Assessment
- Conduct site visits or assess project photos/notes to plan for each install. Confirm measurements, understand surfaces, and ensure hardware and tools are ready before arriving on site.
Shop Prep
- Assist in preparing signs and materials before installs: inserting studs, disassembling standoffs, organizing tools and hardware kits, and coordinating with the QC team.
Tool & Equipment Operation
- Use hand tools, drills, levels, lifts, ladders, and measuring devices.
Problem Solving
- Think on your feet to adapt to field conditions. Solve issues related to uneven surfaces, mounting limitations, or unforeseen obstructions.
Documentation
- Fill out install logs, take completion photos, and note any issues for follow-up. Communicate job status to the team and document client feedback or requests.
Safety
- Always follow safety protocols - whether in the field, the shop, or in a lift. Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications:
- Experience in signage, construction, or related hands-on fields
- Familiarity with sign types, mounting methods, and fasteners
- Comfort using ladders, lifts, drills, and hand tools
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and be on your feet most of the day
- Clean driving record and valid driver's license (CDL not required but a plus)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable working solo or as part of a team
- Detail-oriented with pride in precision and clean execution
- Great, almost perfect attendance record
- 3M installation certification or interest in earning it (we support training!)
Bonus Points For:
- Experience installing ADA-compliant signage
- Familiarity with standoffs, anchor types, drywall/masonry installations
- Vinyl application or vehicle wrap experience
- Spanish-speaking or multilingual
- Previous FASTSIGNS or sign industry experience
