Overview:
Under the direction of the Director of the Simulation Laboratory, the Simulation Specialist will manage the day-to-day operations of the Simulation Lab including the execution of simulation and skill lab components for the following programs: Graduate Entry into Nursing Practice, Family Nursing Practitioner, Midwifery, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, and Adult/Gerontology Nurse Practitioner.
This position will require the candidate to interact directly with students, faculty, staff, inter-professional colleagues, and vendors. This is a high-paced dynamic environment that will require the candidate to be willing to learn new technologies and skills as they emerge. Specific duties for this role include coordinating all simulation lab operational activities such as maintenance, scheduling, inventory review, and purchasing functions.
Instruct all users in the use of technical equipment used in simulation. The incumbent will serve as a simulation lab expert who is able to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair simulation equipment including high and low fidelity manikins and hospital-type equipment as well as audiovisual/ information technology (AV/IT) equipment used in simulation activities.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Flexible, self-motivated, self-directed team player with good problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to install, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot simulation, equipment, IT/AV equipment and software used in a clinical education environment.
Ability to communicate technical information to non- technical audiences. Demonstrate excellence in working under time constraints, managing competing requests for services, and successfully working on multiple projects. Strong customer service orientation.
Demonstrate experience with virtual reality (Hololens and Meta headset use preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, IOS and Android applications.
Ability to autonomously control the physiological parameters of a patient simulator in a realistic manner. Knowledgeable with the various modalities of simulation education and has a good grasp of simulation educational principles.
Preferred Experience and Education:
1.Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Media Production, Dramatic Arts, Education, Engineering, or Nursing preferred).
2.Two years in technology related field.
3.Certification as a CHSOS; or must obtain certification within prescribed time
Principal Responsibilities
- Oversee classrooms for situations where media services assistance is required. Manage and initiate action to resolve remotely or dispatch classroom support specialist personnel to resolve the issue on-site. 2. Utilize sophisticated equipment including broadcast video switchers and robotic PTZ cameras to record events and classes from the Media Control Center (MCC). 3. Monitor tickets and maintain logs. 4. Consult with event organizers and lead production specialist to assess needs and determine media service levels for complex events. 5. Manage, troubleshoot and resolve complex media systems for the entire School of Management including all classrooms and event spaces. Ensure the highest level of support school-wide. 6. Provide complex support including assigning and monitoring video conferencing codecs, touch panel assistance via the remote console, monitor lecture capture recordings, and assist with high-quality classroom and auditorium recordings. 7. Produce high production quality recordings and VC codec assignments. 8. Produce live broadcasts of video to large and global audience. 9. Evaluate system status and perform preventative maintenance on classroom and MCC equipment. 10. Assist with studio and field recordings as assigned. 11. Video editing. 12. On call duties, projects and other related duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with video and audio productions, audio mixers, remote PTZ cameras and with various video conferencing technologies. Mac and PC knowledge required. Knowledge of current trends in digital media and production.
