Career Opportunity – Site Civil: Project Manager with The Kleingers Group in Indianapolis, IN

The Site Civil Project Manager provides technical and people leadership for civil engineering projects through planning, evaluation, design, and implementation. This role leads study‑phase and/or design‑phase efforts across civil, environmental, construction, and industrial projects, while supporting the continued growth of Kleingers’ Indianapolis office. The position offers the opportunity to build and develop an engineering team while contributing to business development in the Indy market.

The Project Manager collaborates closely with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard of quality. This role also includes hiring, mentoring, and developing staff while representing the Company with professionalism and integrity.

Other Responsibilities Include:

Project Leadership & Financial Performance

  • Plan projects using drawings, surveys, aerial photography, maps, and geologic and topographical data
  • Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with design standards and specifications
  • Assign and oversee project work to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and proper time entry
  • Write proposals for advanced‑level projects
  • Positively impact project financial performance and key metrics

Collaboration & Client Engagement

  • Consult with and provide guidance to project stakeholders and management regarding engineering requirements and design modifications
  • Collaborate with architects, landscape architects, contractors, and engineers to ensure successful project execution
  • Coordinate with surveyors (or direct and participate in surveying) to establish reference points, grades, elevations, and construction controls

Technical & Team Leadership

  • Prepare and present technical reports, including detention and engineering due diligence reports
  • Perform engineering calculations for materials, equipment, and labor to determine probable construction costs
  • Utilize design software and drafting tools (CAD, Civil 3D) to develop and communicate designs, including site improvements
  • Establish design criteria and specifications through engineering analysis (e.g., water flow, traffic demand, earthwork balance)
  • Teach and explain Company methodologies and best practices to team members
  • Hire, train, evaluate, assign, and lead staff to successful project completion

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license and Indiana licensure required
  • 5-8 years of civil engineering experience
  • Advanced understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools
  • Knowledge of state and local regulations and ability to review projects for regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency with CAD, Civil 3D, and related design, data, and analysis software
  • Understanding of construction materials, methods, and tools for site and transportation infrastructure
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a creative and analytical approach
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly detail‑oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
  • Comfort with public speaking
  • Ability to assign work based on team members’ strengths and skill levels
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead teams to deliver projects on time, on budget, and accurately
  • S. work authorization required
