Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) is seeking a motivated Site Civil Engineer to join our growing Site Civil/Transportation Design Group in Bellevue, Washington. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex transportation, infrastructure, industrial, and site development projects across North America within Kiewit's integrated design-build environment.

The successful candidate will contribute to site civil engineering design efforts including grading, drainage, utilities, roadway support, and site development. Working alongside experienced engineers and discipline leaders, this individual will develop technical expertise, collaborate across disciplines, and help deliver innovative and constructible solutions that support major infrastructure projects.

This role is well-suited for engineers who enjoy solving challenging design problems, working closely with construction teams, and advancing toward increased project leadership responsibilities.

Location

This position is based out of our office in Bellevue, WA location and includes travel opportunities to project offices and work sites. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule based on location and the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

Technical Design

  • Prepare site civil engineering designs for transportation, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
  • Develop grading, drainage, utility, erosion control, and site layout plans.
  • Perform engineering calculations, quantity takeoffs, and technical analyses.
  • Develop and maintain design models using Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and related design software.
  • Support development of construction plans, specifications, and engineering reports.
  • Assist with utility coordination and multidisciplinary design integration.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and support incorporation of contractor means and methods into design solutions.
  • Apply applicable design standards, agency requirements, and company procedures throughout project development.
  • Lead preliminary design concepts and alternatives to support estimating, pursuit strategy, and project planning.
  • Promote and implement data‑driven design approaches and innovative technical solutions.

Project Delivery & Quality

  • Support project teams in delivering quality work products on schedule and within budget.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary coordination meetings and design reviews.
  • Assist with preparation of project deliverables for client and internal submissions.
  • Perform self-checking and participate in QA/QC and support a culture of quality.
  • Support resolution of design comments and coordination issues.
  • Estimate, plan, direct, progress reporting, and change management of site civil engineering tasks within multidisciplinary project teams.

Teamwork & Professional Development

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and construction professionals across multiple disciplines.
  • Mentor interns and entry-level engineers as opportunities arise.
  • Participate in professional development, and industry organizations.
  • Continue progressing toward increased technical responsibility and project leadership.
  • Mentor and evaluate junior engineering staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain within six months.
  • 2 to 6 years of site civil engineering experience.
  • Experience preparing grading, drainage, utility, and site development plans.
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D, OpenRoads, MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar design software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Desire to pursue Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Prior experience in government and nuclear markets a plus.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet the requirements of federal government contracts and security regulations associated with this role
  • Experience working with AI agents and tools preferred
  • Experience with transportation-related site civil projects.
  • Experience with stormwater management, drainage design, and utility coordination.
  • Experience supporting design-build and alternative delivery projects.

Base Compensation: $95,000/yr - $105,000/yr
