Job Description

We are seeking a Site Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager for a Direct Hire opportunity in Torrance, CA. The EHS is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of all environmental, health, and safety programs at the site level. This position ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a proactive safety culture focused on minimizing risk, preventing injuries, and reducing environmental impact.The EHS Manager serves as the site's subject matter expert for environmental health and safety, partnering closely with employees, contractors, and leadership to promote safe work practices and continuously improve safety performance.Where: Torrance, CASalary: $60-$70/hour DOEBenefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k + more!Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with DOE, OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements, including DOT, NFPA, and local fire department regulations. Maintain required permits, documentation, and regulatory reports.
  • Safety Program Development: Develop, implement, update, and manage site EHS policies, procedures, and programs, including:
    • Hazard Communication (HAZCOM)
    • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
    • Confined Space
    • Industrial Hygiene
    • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    • Emergency response and preparedness
  • Audits & Inspections: Conduct routine facility inspections, safety audits, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of workplace incidents, injuries, and near-misses. Perform root cause analysis, develop corrective and preventive actions, and communicate lessons learned.
  • Training & Education: Develop and deliver EHS training for employees, contractors, and visitors while ensuring all required training remains current and properly documented.
  • Safety Culture Leadership: Promote a strong safety culture through coaching, employee engagement, behavior-based safety initiatives, and proactive hazard recognition.
  • Environmental & Waste Management: Oversee hazardous waste storage, handling, disposal, and regulatory compliance, including RCRA requirements. Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact.
  • Contractor Management: Oversee and monitor the safety practices of suppliers and contractors working on site to ensure compliance with site policies and regulatory requirements.
Basic Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of EHS experience, preferably in a manufacturing, industrial, construction, or similar environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards, including OSHA 1910 and 1926, as well as applicable EPA regulations.
  • Certifications: CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ASP (Associate Safety Professional), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), or similar professional certification is highly desirable.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with front-line employees, contractors, and senior leadership.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze safety metrics, identify trends, and implement data-driven improvements.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong ability to evaluate hazardous conditions, determine root causes, and develop practical corrective actions.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to influence safety behaviors, build employee engagement, and lead change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technology: Proficiency with EHS management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
