Job Description

We are currently looking for experienced SSHOs for service and construction projects in the Pacific Rimto join a young innovative company.

Not every tradesperson is suited for this work—and that’s exactly the point.

We are assembling a trusted network of SSHOs with federal project experience and the ability to step into high-impact roles on short notice. These contract assignments support U.S. government construction efforts, including projects across the Pacific Rim, and require professionals who bring both technical mastery and operational discipline.

This is ideal for contractors who move project-to-project and want consistent access to well-compensated, professionally managed opportunities with travel, per diem, and meaningful work built in.

Compensation: Competitive Wages, fringes, travel, and per diem in accordance with contract stipulations.

The SSHO is responsible for managing all administrative and field construction activities related to the assigned project and will report to the Corporate Safety Manager. 

Project Assignment: Must be able and willing to live and work in Pacific Rim for the duration of the project. Per diems for lodging, meals, and commute will be paid regularly.

Position Summary: Conduct safety orientation, supervise project safety, incident investigation, and ensure compliance with corporate safety program standards

Overall Responsibilities and Duties (Essential Functions):

  • Development and/or review of Accident Prevention Plan, AHAs.
  • Monitor hazardous working conditions and mitigate unsafe activities through safety management, training and coordination with supervisory personnel
  • Identify, document, and correct unsafe site conditions in coordination with site operations management
  • Supervise and administer safety activities
  • Conduct an employee safety orientation training program
  • Conduct work area surveillance, audits, inspections, property damage and personal injury investigations
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
  • Assist the Director of Safety and Health in the administration of the Company’s safety and health program.
  • Assist and support project teams in establishing and maintaining an effective safety and health program.
  • Conduct project-level training and provide educational training materials designed to develop and maintain an effective safety and health program.
  • Participate in pre-job planning and start-up.
  • Provide technical assistance and advice to field personnel as needed.
  • Assist in planning for high-risk activities.
  • Assist in the investigation of serious accidents.
  • Assist in the management of Worker’s Compensation claims.
  • Personnel evaluation and development.

Qualifications (Will be reviewed and feedback provided by government contractor contact):

  • 5-year degree is preferred. An Occupational Safety and Health Degree is suggested.
  • Hold a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation.
  • Hold a designation as an Associate Safety Professional with a minimum of 1 year of documented experience. 
  • Hold an Occupational Health and Safety Technician or Construction Health and Safety Technician Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in safety on Federal projects (list of projects, location, and description of where you were the 100% safety professional)
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Extensive construction-related safety experience can be substituted for a degree
  • 30-hr OSHA Construction Safety Class certification within the past 5 years and demonstrated continuing Safety training thereafter (8 hours per year)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and Procore.
  • Experience and knowledge working with the USACE EM 385-1-1 construction safety standards strongly preferred.
  • A current or recent U.S. government TS security clearance is required.

Physical Work:

  • Moderate Work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • The individual in this position will periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and office activity
  • Walking - The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, boxes, cabinets, etc. This position will spend a large amount of time walking projects.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine, phone, computer, and computer printer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to project safety.
  • The person in this position occasionally sits in a stationary position in front of a computer screen.
  • Constantly reads written communications and views mail submissions. Will also need to read blueprints and take/verify field measurements.
  • Climbing – Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps at various heights.
  • Balancing – Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand, or crouch.
  • Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.
  • Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures
  • Frequently exposed to noisy environments and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
