Our Fitness Specialist

• Assesses and evaluates senior residents’ needs for exercise and fitness.  Works with residents individually and in groups.  Plans individual fitness programs for participating residents.
• Supervises or presents exercise programs that may include exercises in pool or other high-risk areas.
• Assists team members with orientation to Fitness Center, procedures, and policies.
• Produces promotional materials, newsletters, flyers, etc. as required.
• Inspects, cleans and maintains equipment.
• Maintains records of residents’ progress.
• Assist with collecting data and reports for fitness activities as required
• Provides in-service trainings as required.
• Works in collaboration with other professionals to provide appropriate assistance to residents.
• Promotes the Mission, Vision, and Values of Transforming Age in all areas of responsibility.
• Performs administrative functions for the department.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

• Bachelor’s degree in an exercise-related discipline preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience (3 or more years of fitness related experience
• National Fitness Certification required (ACSM preferred, but not required.
• Experience in prescribing exercise to special populations preferred.
• Must be able to demonstrate proper uses of the exercise equipment.
• Completion of a background check, may also include drug screen, physical, fingerprint, and TB test as required by state/local guidelines.
• First aid training and CPR per state/local guidelines may be required

Physical Requirements for the role include:

• Must be able to physically assist in safe exercise and the safe operation of the equipment. 
• Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 75 lbs.
