SOCIAL MEDIA & GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNAbout Read Better Be BetterRBBB is an education nonprofit addressing Arizona's literacy crisis. We connect young readers and youth leaders to inspire a love of literacy and leadership. Interns join a mission-driven, collaborative team and contribute meaningfully to programs that make a real impact. Overview of Internship RoleThe RBBB Social Media & Graphic Design Intern will work under the supervision of the Communications Manager to complete projects related to social media management and content creation, graphic design, website management, and more. In addition to assigned tasks, the Social Media & Graphic Design Intern will be given the opportunity to take on tasks of personal interest, dependent upon the needs of the Strategic Initiatives Department and the organization.

Hours & Schedule
A weekly commitment of 10-15 hours is required. Interns will be expected to commit to a set schedule within RBBB's main office hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday to Thursday.

January–April/May (Spring); May–July/August (Summer); August/September–December (Fall)
Program Duration
Internship positions are meant to be short-term and based around academic semesters and last for 3-4 months, depending on availability. We offer: Spring, Summer and Fall positions.

Position Type
This internship is unpaid. Read Better Be Better is fully committed to providing eligible interns with all documentation necessary for them to receive course credit for their time with the organization, if they wish to do so.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support with communications, which may include but is not limited to: social media content creation and account management, email and newsletter outreach, graphic design and digital content creation, website design and management (making updates), photography and videography, support with brand and marketing strategy, etc.
- Draft and design social media content, fliers, handouts, and other print items.
- Assist in designing newsletters, digital communications, and press releases.
- Perform research tasks related to communications platforms and projects.
- Design and complete projects based on personal interest and organizational need.
- Perform other general RBBB team duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communicator; creative thinker
- Attentive to detail with ability to proofread and format text/design elements to be consistent
- Having a foundational knowledge of social media and digital content management, marketing, and communications
- Familiar with and having a solid understanding of social media platforms (e.g., Meta Business Suite/Facebook/Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube)
- Having strong design skills and proficiency with basic graphic design platforms (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express)
- Interested in and passionate about the Read Better Be Better mission, vision, and values
- Interested in marketing and communications and/or the nonprofit sector
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Enrolled in or graduated from a relevant degree program (e.g., marketing, graphic design, etc.)
- Having an understanding of the following platforms and applications:
- WordPress and/or Elementor Web Editor
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- MailChimp or other email marketing platform
- Having the ability to obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card after hire (cost will be reimbursed)
- Having Spanish proficiency or a basic understanding
Application & Screening Process
- Applications are submitted via the online internship portal.
- Applicants who are selected to move on will be asked to attend a phone screening and provide work samples and references.
- A final round of interviews will be conducted before the candidate is selected for the role. The entire screening process will be conducted by the Strategic Initiatives Department, including the position's direct supervisor.
